I'm always so amazed at people who have the courage to say, "This has to stop. I need to do something different." So many of us are Curse Busters - those that have dealt with our own pain, and are trying to stop the generational issues from screwing up our kids. It's tough, honestly, to parent out of what you've never seen done before. But it's definitely possible! Empathic, trauma-informed care that focuses on finding meaning and courage where we may have felt powerless before. While my past experience has given me quite the broad spectrum of experiences, I want to extend a special invitation to military (both active and veteran status) and our first responders - and their families.
One of the biggest lies I think we tell ourselves is that "we should be able to handle this alone" and then when we realize we can't, it feels like a failure. In reality, that's not how life works. It's okay to have a mechanic, a pediatrician, a chiropractor, etc. because no one would expect otherwise. Same with our mental health!
