I care deeply about connecting with clients, building rapport, and holding the therapeutic space. I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, wife, mother, nature-lover, and fitness enthusiast. I work with clients to understand their presenting concerns & symptoms, and clarify their goals for treatment. I use metaphors & visuals to teach helpful concepts, and I inquire about strengths and support systems. I specialize in kids 9 and up, teens, college students, and creatives such as artists, writers, and poets.
I use an integrative approach based on a client's needs and preferences: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to explore thoughts; dreamwork; active imagination; Sandplay; art & play therapy; and somatic interventions. I'm also Internal Family Systems and trauma-informed. I'm curious by nature, and regularly seek training to maintain my skill set.
I'm a Registered Sandplay Practitioner. During sandplay (a modality utilized with all ages), the therapist is non-directive: clients connect with the sand, then select miniatures to represent their inner world. Miniatures are placed in wet or dry sand and can be buried, stacked, etc. Over time, sandplay facilitates a client's natural capacity for healing.
