My name is Jennifer Matthews and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I take an eclectic approach to therapy, utilizing my vast knowledge of theory to provide quality care to each of my clients on an individual basis. I am trained and certified in CBT, DBT, ACT, CPT, and PE. I have spent most of my career assisting individuals to gain power and freedom back over their lives. There is nothing more rewarding than the client who can smile during and after the storm knowing they have created the skills necessary to not only survive but thrive.
Most clients that request to work with me have a trauma history, experience racial injustice, struggle with co-dependency, have sexual identity concerns, and are looking for ways to combat negative patterns of thinking.
I don't believe that therapy follows a pattern or a curriculum. It is a unique journey for each individual that I have the honor of guiding. While the techniques I utilize are evidence-based, they are tailored to the needs and presentation of the client after careful assessment and input from the client.
