Many people have experienced traumatic events, whether in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood. Those events, many of which become compartmentalized over time, can lead to symptoms of anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and difficulty concentrating or sleeping. Posttraumatic symptoms such as dissociation, flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive thoughts can also occur. These symptoms can sometimes be exacerbated by life stressors, including microaggressions, important life transitions, or existential angst about the state of the world. Sometimes life can seem overwhelming, and therapy can provide strategies to cope.
I have been in clinical practice for over twenty years, specializing in PTSD, complex trauma and the dissociative disorders, and have developed and taught graduate-level courses in trauma and human behavior. I bring a psychodynamic, strengths-based, and compassionate approach to therapy. I am trained in CBT, IFS, and EMDR, among other modalities.
