Life is hard! But it is also beautiful and rewarding. We can’t have joy, love and excitement without pain, disappointment, and rejection. I.e., we can’t just pick and choose the “good” feelings – we have to feel all of our feelings. Acceptance of things as they come, without evaluating or attempting to change them, is a skill developed through mindfulness exercises in and out of session. I utilize ACT to help individuals recognize ways in which their attempts to suppress, manage, and control emotional experiences are getting in the way of living a more authentic values based whole hearted life.
I have worked for several years with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, past trauma, grief and loss, personal growth, transition to college, behavioral issues as well as relationship problems. I use a non-judgmental lens to find strengths that are already there but may have been covered by pain or suffering to help learn more adaptive coping.
I offer evening sessions and am flexible with weekly scheduling.
