When Life feels overwhelming or unsettling, we often need someone who can consider our situation with more objectivity than we possess. I have been a psychologist for over 20 years and believe in the power of therapy to (1) help us navigate challenging times and (2) learn new strategies that help us reach our potential. I begin every first session with the same opening: "Tell me why you're here and how I could help." Then I ask the clients to tell me their stories. I love listening to people's stories because our stories remind us of where we have been and give us a context for the current and future chapters of our lives.
My approach to therapy is eclectic and I tailor my interventions to the needs of the clients and their goals for therapy. My interventions range from cognitive-behavioral therapy to psychodynamic processing of earlier experiences to using Engel's biopsychosocial model to identify how physical, psychological, and social issues contribute to struggle.
As I tell my clients, finding the right therapist often requires a few attempts before you find the person who is a good fit for you, your goals, and your personality. I wish you all the best in this process. If you are interested in exploring if my approach would be a good fit, please reach out.
