You feel pain in many ways: worry, shame, anger, confusion, and sadness. Your past taught you how to respond to these feelings, but problems arise when these responses no longer work. Our first goal in therapy is to understand why you feel and act the way you do. Awareness doesn’t bring change; it brings choice. I focus on emotions because they communicate what we can’t yet speak. Listening to our emotions gives us the power to help ourselves. When you understand yourself, you can make better choices to get what you need. Most people come see me because of anxiety, depression, difficulty with motivation, relationship conflict, and life transitions. My areas of expertise are in sexuality, gender identity, and spirituality & faith. I also have significant experience with treating disordered eating.
