My name is Jean V. Souffrant, a practicing Mental Health Counselor as well as a licensed Psychoanalyst. I am licensed both as a Mental Health Counselor as well as an Analyst. I am a graduate of a Psychoanalytic Institute, Alfred Adler Institue in New York, where I also lectured for a number of years until a few years ago. I am an extremely friendly, experienced and highly supportive of my patients and nonjudgemental. The ability to build a relationship and to help the patient to overcome her/his issues through the encouragement and stimulation which he/ she receives during the course of the process is my main purpose.
True acceptance of the patient, friendliness, patience ,receptivity as well as emotional support are the tools a seasoned therapist can utilize to help our friends and patients overcome the multitude of issues confronting our society. Problems ranging from major depression, addiction, anxiety, separation issues and suicide and to the other psychiatric issue
Seeing the patient's issues as well as problems through his/ her own eyes is a creative way of building empathy, complete understanding and the ability to help the patient manages her issues. The therapist must be truly interested and sincere in the relationship, not pretend to but, in reality, does not demonstrate his/ her genuine interest.
