Hi there. I am Dr. Jay Howell, and I am a licensed psychologist who is passionate about providing his clients with compassionate care. I have expertise working with college-age students since I have worked in a university setting for close to 20 years. I enjoy working with clients of all ages (18 and older) who are working through many life challenges including depression, anxiety, stress, and relational concerns. I also have expertise working with clients exploring identity development which may include sexual orientation and gender identity and gender expression.
Generally, I work from a client-centered approach, meeting clients where they are and working collaboratively in working towards a valued life. Many of the interventions I use are behaviorally oriented so clients can act in life in accordance with their values.
I started this journey in 1998 when I went back to school to get my MSW. I thoroughly enjoy working with people and I am grateful when clients allow me to be part of their life journey. I work hard to create a safe, caring, compassionate environment where my clients feel heard, validated, and supported.
