Hi, I’m Janie and I am a Dallas native. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families, as well as with children and adolescents who face challenges with both behavior and learning differences. I also have extensive experience in life transition counseling and coaching older adults who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, or grief issues as they navigate the aging experience and seek to repurpose their lives.
I describe my counseling style as motivational, person-centered and solution-focused, with an emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy. I collaborate with my clients to examine thoughts and behaviors that may be causing emotional challenges or relationship struggles and to supporting them in developing purposeful life and relationship goals.
I completed my BA and MS degree in Sociology at UT Dallas, and my MS degree in Counseling at Texas Tech University. I am a certified Special Education teacher and Dyslexia instructor. I love integrating these disciplines in my holistic approach to counseling. In my free time, I enjoy reading, golf, and spending time with my family and two energetic dogs.
