I have been practicing psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy in NYC with adults for over 20 years. My work has included mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders, history of suicide attempts, panic disorder, agoraphobia, history of trauma and abuse. I have helped patients with a broad range of life issues, such as navigating relationships, raising children, managing financial stress, dealing with medical or sexual problems, understanding sexual orientation and gender, and adjusting to life changes such as marriage, divorce, changing jobs, release from prison, death of a parent or other loss.
I have been trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with a strong emphasis on relational theory, attachment, and object-relations, but over the years I have also absorbed influences from cognitive behavioral theory, meditation and mindfulness, spirituality, and body-based therapies. Teaching experience includes: Psychoanalytic Theories of Human Development and Clinical Assessment.
I create a safe, nonjudgmental space for us to explore your internal conflicts, past and present relationships and developmental history. Our goals are to help create a personal narrative of acceptance, to learn to recognize and manage emotions, and to make future choices with more self awareness and compassion.
