Life can be complicated and full of traumatic events that overwhelm us. As a result, problematic patterns that negatively affect almost every area of life may begin. These overwhelming events may also negatively shift beliefs about self, others, and the world at large. Once this occurs, it can be difficult to repair without professional help. Additionally, trauma can be unique to the individual. It's not always a confrontation with mortality but rather, a deep hurt or betrayal by someone we should have been able to trust.
I am trained in trauma-informed approaches including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), and Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT). I believe in the power of human resiliency. I also believe sometimes we just need a dedicated space and caring individual to listen, explore, and brainstorm a way through.
