People often seek the support of a therapist when they are looking to make a change in their lives. They may have tried and succeeded, only to find themselves at what feels like square one days later. This cycle can be exhausting and may lead to burn out and feelings of shame. In response to this shame, symptoms such as perfectionism, procrastination, or anxiety attacks may arise. I am passionate about defusing shame in my clients’ lives and creating space for healing through acknowledging that all behaviors make sense in the context of our lives and utilizing a values-based approach to effecting change.
Together we’ll work on identifying the values and meanings that are important to you and explore how your current life aligns with those values. Through empathy and compassion, we’ll work to develop skills and build internal resources to help you move towards your goals. I utilize interventions from CBT, ACT, DBT and body based therapies.
In session, I hold a humanistic and trauma-informed stance, acknowledging the profound role of adverse experiences, including childhood trauma, racism and discrimination, and the impact financial disparities. I believe you are the expert on your life- my job is to hold up a mirror to empower you to realize your goals and values.
