Hello! If you are reading this, that probably means that you are interested in who I am and what I do! ( Thank you for your curiosity!) I am a licensed (OH) social worker. My “expertise” is in the treatment of anxiety (amongst other diagnoses). In exploring your concerns, my most frequently used theoretical approach is cognitive-behavioral therapy or CBT, which generally involves: (a) identifying and changing the unhelpful thoughts and beliefs that create and support our anxious feelings and/or (b) using time during therapy(or suggesting things to try at home) to approach, rather than avoid, the things that create fear or anxiety.
I value the science of clinical social work, which goes hand-in-hand with the psychology framework. My attention during our time together will be focused around those approaches that have been proven to be helpful for the problems you are experiencing. We will also work to carefully monitor your progress in treatment and make adjustments accordingly!
The word “therapy” can sound pretty intense and intimidating. Don’t let it detour you! “Therapy” can be fun, serious and/or casual! Whether it’s talking about what you ate for the day, or talking about a deeply rooted trauma, all topics and concerns are welcomed.
