Most of my clients have had addiction issues. I have learned that many people become addicted because they have had very painful experiences in their lives. Often those painful experiences are related to their substance use. Using drugs or alcohol helps ease the pain of their most painful memories. Unfortunately, using creates a whole host of other problems as well. Therapy can help identify, address, and potentially resolve those issues without drugs. EMDR therapy in particular has been shown to help greatly in reducing the pain of our most painful memories. I offer a friendly, nonjudgmental attitude to users, friends, and family.
Trauma is the word we use to describe those painful memories that stay with us. Trauma is not all in the head, it affects the entire body. While talk therapy provides some assistance, there are times when other methods are needed to really get at the heart of the issue. I offer EMDR therapy as a way of addressing, and potentially releasing the pain of trauma
I have worked with a broad range of people, including lifetime addicts, people who have been imprisoned, people who have suffered physical or sexual abuse, or who have witnessed horrendous acts of violence.
