Via telehealth, I enjoy collaborating with clients to help them develop a deeper understanding of themselves and a corresponding ability to live a more genuine and effective life. I meet clients where they are, rather than impose a framework, so my approach is tailored to you. My treatment skills, honed over many decades of work with a variety of clients presenting with a wide array of problems, are supplemented by a diverse life experience (I was a musician prior to becoming a psychologist) that enables me to provide a broad perspective on the human condition. I frequently rely on humor to soften life's inevitable challenges.
I trained in psychodynamic therapy, which focuses on how present issues are greatly influenced by experiences in childhood and adolescence. While I still find that approach helpful, I supplement it with a focus on developing practical solutions to present problems. In that regard, I incorporate aspects of CBT and DBT, depending on the client's issues.
Working together, we can get you unstuck and meaningfully moving forward. I have significant experience working with men across the socio-economic spectrum and with men's issues. As a former musician, I bring a well-informed perspective to work with those in the arts or art-related fields. I also work well with clients in government and academia.
