I am a compassionate, humorous and enthusiastic therapist with my master’s degree in counseling psychology, licensed in Minnesota as a professional clinical counselor. It wasn’t until I discovered the healing power of the mind, body, and spirit approach that I saw lasting change and healing in myself and in my clients. I am client centered, radically non-judgmental, authentic, and honest. I believe in meeting each individual where they are and joining together on a path to growth. I am strongly influenced by Sensorimotor Psychotherapy which focuses on the link between our bodies and our psychological wellbeing.

Together we attend to concerns and uncertainties, “what ifs”, and possibilities for enduring change. We work with intention to make possible the softening of stress, fear, or worry. We watch for the budding return of relief, clarity, ease, and hope. Potential shifts make possible the lessening of physical symptoms, as well as allowing for fear to settle; for intimacy, creativity, and inspiration to flourish; for thinking to clear and decisions to be made, action taken, and a deep sense of aliveness felt.

At times, life presents us with challenges that seem insurmountable on our own. I am here to help you access your own resilience and self-knowledge. Or, maybe, you are simply in need of someone who can listen, encourage, and help you envision a path forward. My goal is to provide a nonjudgmental space for adults and adolescents to process, heal, and grow as individuals. I have experience working with adults and adolescents from diverse backgrounds, and with individuals facing such challenges as depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, developmental and life stage adjustments, and relational struggles.

I am only accepting relational clients. I believe it is so important to be curious, compassionate, and present. When you find yourself looking for assistance, you know what that better future would look like, and in collaboration we can work on exploring how to get there. You are the expert of your life, and my duty is to provide a safe space to explore. Sometimes it can be harder to explore and be present in an oppressive social system like the one we are surrounded in, especially for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. I have experience working with non-monogamy, relational conflict, communication improvement, and family systems.

Anxiety, sexual concerns, past traumas, self-doubt and unhelpful communication patterns can leave us feeling stuck. I help people remove the road blocks that keep them from having fulfilling connections with the people who matter most in their lives. I work with couples and individuals to heal from past wounds and move forward with the skills to embrace the present moment. I enjoy working with people as they build the confidence to be more centered and present in their intimate relationships and more comfortable in their relationship with themselves.

Suffering from anxiety is exhausting. The what if'ing is constant and you know these thoughts aren't rational...but they feel so real. You find yourself often distracted because of worried thinking. You try everything to find relief (even therapy), but nothing seems to help. You avoid anxiety triggers, and this only seems to have made your world small. You wish you could wake up tomorrow with skills that work to stop the noise in your head so you can be confident to handle what life throws at you, be present with your loved ones, and stay focused at work.

As a relational therapist with previous experience as a youth worker, I believe most suffering is caused by a failure of belonging. When trauma or other significant difficulties occur, we can take on beliefs and ways of being that are bound by the feeling that we are alone and unable to access the world of belonging, both within ourselves and in relationships. We find it almost impossible to honor all our parts and to feel free to accept them. My aim as a therapist, then, is to create a space where a client’s experiences may fully belong and they may feel understood and valued for who they are in the way they choose to be.

How are you showing up in your life? Perhaps you are exhausted by efforts to avoid emotional pain, with the result being you avoid being present in your life. Or perhaps you stay mired in forms of emotional pain due to its familiarity or its seeming inescapability. I find great meaning in helping clients move toward their vision of a more fulfilling life. I enjoy working with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, challenges with substance use, and/or difficulties with adjusting to new life circumstances – who want to better connect with themselves, their friends and loved ones, and the natural world.

We all experience times when life becomes overwhelming, leaving us feeling vulnerable and off-centered, sometimes leading to profound depression, grief, anxiety or the use of unhealthy coping strategies. Stressors include major life transitions, relational challenges (conflict, separation/divorce, domestic abuse), parenting or/caregiving responsibilities, health difficulties, social oppression/discrimination, and trauma as a child or adult. No matter how strong you may be, you don't have to go it alone. Everyone struggles from time to time, and many benefit from seeking help from an experienced, highly trained psychotherapist.

Does this vibe? " I’m constantly overthinking every little thing while simultaneously forgetting everything". Or, "I’m interested in discovering different aspects of intimacy and relationships and I need help figuring out what I want". What about, " I’m trying to make what feels like a bazillion (yes this is an actual word) decisions every day, while trying to meet everyone else’s needs". Better yet, " I am lonely and overly emotional yet unemotional and clingy but distant & private but will overshare and I'm an extrovert but also its way to peoplie to go outside and connect". If this is you then let's talk!

One of life's greatest challenges is trying to balance who we are with what the world demands of us. We often need to adjust ourselves to fit circumstances that are not always aligned with our heart and soul. This can cause us to feel overwhelmed, isolated, frustrated and hopeless. Therapy is one of the best ways to rediscover that true self that can often get lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Minneapolis?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
