I understand the impact of Adverse Childhood Experience on individuals and their families. I have a soft heart for those who have had traumatic negative experiences from the criminal justice and child welfare systems. I've been driven by the needs of different communities through volunteer experiences. I bring a wealth of knowledge on Special Populations to include those struggling with Substance Use Disorder as well as those exposed to Domestic Violence.
I am a Bilingual Latina who obtained a Masters in Social Work and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Advance Practice with Children and Adolescents. On February 7, 2015, I received the Social Justice Micah Award. I naturally focus on what is right with people, on what is going well with them. I derive my strength from other people.
I am fascinated by people's strengths and gifts. I'm incurably positive. I believe that people can find the good in virtually any situation. During my 21 years of being a Child Welfare Social Worker, I thrived as a community activist. All of which has been a life changing, ongoing, educational experience.
