Because of my experience and training in family systems I can help you access your relationship issues and help you gain insight into your patterns.
Are you feeling emotionally overwhelmed ? Unsure of how to fix your relationship problems ? When leaving or ending a relationship seems like the only solution, you may need to find someone to help you work through this difficult time. When you decide to contact someone to help you sort through your issues, that can open the door to change and an opportunity to create a better future for yourself and the people you care about. It begins with self-discovery and the courage to look at ourselves and work to make changes. These changes will allow us to grow into our best selves and help us strengthen our relationships with others.

My approach incorporates IFS, somatic, psychodynamic, existential and person centered methods.
It takes courage to seek help when you are suffering. Taking steps to improve the quality of your life is one of the most valuable gifts you can give yourself. I believe it is the job of a therapist to help people on their journey and that the therapeutic relationship is an essential part of this process. The therapist must create an environment of trust where it feels safe to explore thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental, supportive manner. In this kind of atmosphere, we can begin the work to identify strengths and diminish self-defeating thinking and behavior so that you can move forward with your life.

Starting your therapy journey can be anxiety provoking. I commend you for taking this important step for yourself. I believe that presenting symptoms are adaptive and protective forms of coping that you've likely learned over time. We are influenced and impacted by the systems in which we live like our family systems or systems of oppression. Uncovering root causes to symptoms and gently exploring more into self awareness and understanding of your past and present experiences will be the cornerstone of our time together and you feeling better.

We’ll incorporate mindfulness practices to help you stay present, Internal Family Systems (IFS) to address deeper issues, and narrative therapy to reframe your story.
Warm greetings to you, neighbor. I imagine looking for a counselor is not how you want to be spending your time right now. You would rather be using your skills and superpowers. Whether it's stress from work, challenges in relationships, or that critical inner voice holding you back, you’re not alone—and change is possible. My ideal client is ready to break free from the overwhelm and envision a future that aligns with their true values.

These include: sand tray, Internal Family Systems, Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Holographic Memory Resolution (HMR), guided relaxation and journeying on an infrared and bio-acoustic mat, and therapeutic art such as dioramas, mask making, and left handed self portrait drawing.
What drives my 25 year experience in the field of clinical psychology is a superpower that I believe belongs to everyone, sacred curiosity. In partnering with my client to develop this superpower we build the foundation for the following: healing past trauma, working through loss and transition, developing a consistent emotional regulation practice, harnessing creative energies in productive ways, building self-awareness without judgement, and fostering conflict resolution skills that bring harmony to social relationships. Clients who are drawn to my work seek creative embodied ways of healing and self-exploring.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
