I take an integrative approach to therapy drawing on Polyvagal Theory, the Gottman Method (for relationships), Brainspotting, Bowenian theory, IFS, and somatic work.
I'm not able to take new clients at this time! My passion is relationships. I love to explore how systemic and societal power structures influence how we connect with our partners, family members, and friends. I work with couples, families, and individuals in areas such as polyamory, boundaries, personal power, queerness, gender identity, sex and sexuality, trauma, stress, life transitions, chronic illness, and anything else that affects our ability to be authentically and safely ourselves.

I use aspects of Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing.
There are many stressors and situations in life that may cause disconnect from our selves and others. This may lead to feelings of irritability, sadness, stuck-ness, or resentment, as well as less fulfillment in relationships or at work. In my approach, I aim to reestablish or strengthen the connection one has with themself and others. I work to understand your perspective, build awareness and compassion, and increase resources, like coping and communication skills, that assist you in living an intentional and enjoyable life.

That could look like Brainspotting for stuck somatic experiences and memories, Trauma-Focused CBT or Narrative Exposure, or the framework of IFS to shrink shame and grow compassion for yourself and understanding for others.
Welcome! My name is Lisa Gray. I love my work and I'm biased towards the idea of therapy for everyone all the time, but let's begin by talking about how things end: We'll know our work is done when you feel confident that you can navigate your emotional seasons with the insight and strategies we develop together. You should feel increased peace and satisfaction in your relationship with yourself and the people around you, your energy for daily life, and preparedness to weather future storms.

My therapeutic approach is shaped by person-centered, humanistic, and internal family systems therapy.
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, but rather it is shaped by your needs and life experiences. Starting therapy can be intimidating and I am here to guide you through your journey of growth. It is my purpose to find what sets everyone apart, helping you discover and develop the tools you have within you.

I often utilize Transpersonal Psychology theory, Psychosynthesis, Internal Family Systems/Systems theory, and Mindfulness in session.
Welcome! Being human is a beautiful and vulnerable experience that doesn't always have directions or clear answers. You may be here because you feel struck in patterns that are holding you back or feel overwhelmed, anxious, and stressed in your daily life. You may be seeking help because you feel stuck in your relationship(s) or want to feel more free in your sexuality or sexual identity and are unsure how to proceed. And if you are a highly sensitive and/or nuero-diverse person, the world can feel complicated! If you are longing to live authentically and experience meaningful relationships, you've come to the right place!

I am only accepting relational clients. I believe it is so important to be curious, compassionate, and present. When you find yourself looking for assistance, you know what that better future would look like, and in collaboration we can work on exploring how to get there. You are the expert of your life, and my duty is to provide a safe space to explore. Sometimes it can be harder to explore and be present in an oppressive social system like the one we are surrounded in, especially for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. I have experience working with non-monogamy, relational conflict, communication improvement, and family systems.

I’m certified in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
If you (or people you love), are facing the same issue(s) in your life that you have been trying to change for years, or if something you’ve previously managed well is now becoming unmanageable, or if you’ve been “blind-sided” by a serious issue you could never have predicted, therapy can serve as a powerful ally or “touchstone” through it all. Wherever you are right now, therapy needs to “meet you there.” The most important aspect of working together, is that everything flows from your uniqueness as an individual. I believe the therapeutic process works best as a collaboration between client and therapist.

In my work with couples and individuals I draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), polyvagal theory, experiential mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
Whether you’re looking for deep personal healing, you want to create a more enjoyable relationship, or you need some extra support during a difficult time, I offer a nonjudgmental space where I will walk beside you every step of the way as we find a way forward. I believe our past experiences live in our bodies, and I’m interested in how those experiences continue to show up in our lives and our relationships. I enjoy working with people who want to explore new ways of relating to themselves and the people they care about. I welcome people of all gender identities, sexualities, and relationship structures.

I am trained in Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems models, and I use these evidence-based approaches to help individuals and couples address trauma, anxiety, grief & loss, and family and relational dynamics.
Have you tried talk therapy in the past or are you looking for a new innovative approach to traditional talk therapy? How do you feel toward your life? You may be good at keeping up appearances on the outside, but on the inside, you may be struggling with parts of yourself that are feeling overwhelmed, angry, impulsive, lost, sad, lonely, stressed, burnt out or stuck and reactive to people or situations. I help people learn how to calm their nervous system, heal their stories, and lead with awareness.

My approach to therapy uses eco-psychology, IFS, somatic and psychodynamic theory, among others.
Hello! What is bringing you to therapy? For many, it's feeling lost, confused, hurt and disconnected from ourselves and the world around us. We can come to feel lost and disconnected because of trauma or stress (either in this lifetime or in your lineage) that hasn’t been digested in our body/mind. It can happen from living in an increasingly lonely and disconnected world. I would like to support you in finding connection and meaning in life so you can experience satisfying relationships with yourself, friends, family and the natural world around you. This is what being alive is about!

I will draw on my knowledge of psychodynamic and attachment theory, narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems and trauma sensitive approaches.
Life presents inevitable challenges. Problems are problems. People are not problems. I will work alongside you to be curious and draw out your innate knowing and expertise. You share in my belief in the power of metaphor and meaning-making as a healing medium. This may include creative processes with art materials or it can be through "talk therapy" as well. We will work as collaborators to achieve greater self-awareness that allows you to move forward with confidence, less fear, self judgement and criticism.

My therapeutic approach is influenced by Narrative, Acceptance and Commitment, and Dialectical Behavioral therapies, somatic and mindfulness practices, Internal Family Systems, and trauma-focused techniques.
As a human navigating this ever-changing world, it is my belief that we each hold knowledge, power, and peace within ourselves. However, it is fair to say that we don't always feel this way. I have experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, shame, depression, life change, and trauma. My therapeutic goal is to hold space for you, support you, and help you enrich your life. I am committed to social justice and believe that systemic dynamics influence a person's mental health. I continually strive to have a validating space for all identities, and I advocate for anti-oppression on both community and systemic platforms.

I use a proven therapy process called Internal Family Systems (IFS) that goes beyond talking about and managing thoughts and feelings, to a deeper place of healing.
I imagine many things in your life are going well, but there are a certain things you think, feel, or do that you just wish you didn't think, feel or do. Maybe you get anxious or angry when you feel criticized. Maybe you shut down and lose motivation when faced with a difficult task. Or maybe it's something else and it's getting in the way of you being yourself, and feeling comfortable at home, at school, or at work. You've tried lots of ways to manage your these thoughts or feelings, but they don't seem to calm down. It's like something takes over, filling you with anxiety, sadness, fear, anger or something else.

Coming to therapy can feel overwhelming, I prioritize a warm, somatic-based approach with the understanding that healing happens at the rate of trust. The development of a therapeutic relationship is deep work, I am honored to join clients in unpacking stuck parts, heavy experiences, and successes. I support clients in holding themselves with tenderness and power. I draw from Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Human Development, and Mindfulness to support clients by integrating body and mind in processing trauma.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
