With advanced training in trauma, attachment, Polyvagal, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR, I integrate several approaches to best fit each client's needs.
Overwhelmed. Things did not go the way you hoped, and now you are left feeling stuck, disconnected from yourself and others. Or perhaps you can’t pinpoint what went wrong, but you find yourself constantly on edge, your mind racing and jaw clenched. You sense that you were made to live more fully than this but can't seem to find your way.

I use an integrated approach to therapy which may include trauma-informed techniques from various counseling approaches, including (but not limited to), Brainspotting, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance Therapy, Polyvagal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, and Humanistic Psychology.
My empathetic approach meets the individual where they are, to explore their concerns without shame, guilt, or judgment. Everyone faces challenges and difficult times in their life. The way we receive information from the people, places, and things in our environment is rooted in experience, belief systems, and our personality. We respond and interact with others based on our defined relationship with ourselves and our experiences. My goal is to create a safe environment, to cultivate an authentic relationship with yourself. We will work together to develop attainable treatment goals based on your needs and wants.

Contrary to what many people believe, not all adversity is bad. Over coming challenges produces strength in character, improves competency and leads to joy. Trauma occurs when adversity in life outweighs our available resources. As a EMDR and Trauma Certified therapist, I also incorporate techniques informed by the Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) & Somatic Experiencing (SE) for a bottom up approach. However, my main goal is to remind you of what we all intuitively know - that healing can only happen within the context of emotionally safe relationships. You are safe here.

To do this, I draw mainly from the experiential methods of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) or Internal Family Systems (IFS) for parts work.
We can explore attachment needs and define what self-intimacy and intimacy with others look like for you. I consider myself multicultural and first-gen so identity development as it pertains to culture hits close to home. There are a lot of factors related to identity, purpose, and sexuality that can play into how we attempt to create and maintain relationship to others. Clients I work with are introspective and want to use self-knowledge to lead a more fulfilling life.

Feeling anxious, stuck, alone, burned out, or misunderstood? Need change, to establish reconnection, or an unbiased ear? Counseling can help with that! We can develop ways of being and doing that served a purpose for us for a season that are no longer working for us now, causing dysfunction. We can form new ways of being and feel safer and more connected with ourselves, our surroundings, and others. A previous career in occupational therapy has given me insight into the brain-body connection and compassion for those experiencing medical frustrations. I also have prior experience with and passion for college student mental health!

Everyone’s journey is different, shaped by personal experiences and emotions. I aim to create a safe and understanding space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings. Together, we’ll identify what you need and what you're good at, then build a plan to help you overcome obstacles and live a more fulfilling life. Although, my experience spans through all ages, I have found my passion and purpose in focusing on adolescents and women.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
