I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology and have advanced training in Integrative Wellness, Grief Recovery, EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, several models of couples therapy, and am a Certified Enneagram Teacher.
Are you feeling stuck? Overwhelmed? Perhaps in the grips of anxiety, depression, a troubled relationship, grief, or other issues that threaten your ability to feel your best? As a skilled integrative therapist, I first focus on getting to know you and listening carefully for the desired changes. You and I will then create a way of working together that is designed to help you get back to feeling well. As we are all individuals, I will propose a plan that honors your unique style and issues and at the same time, offer treatments that are effective, ethical, and gentle.

Everyone deserves a safe place to bring their authentic self and be met with compassion rather than criticism, empathy instead of judgment, and support in place of loneliness. It has been my privilege to create this safety for children, teens, and adults for many years and I continue to hold great honor in my role as therapist. I am gifted in being comfortable sitting with people in their pain, wrestling together with life's most challenging questions, speaking truth with gentle kindness, celebrating progress and being a soft landing for setbacks, seeing people's strengths, and making people feel seen, heard, and understood.

Does it feel like your inner critic has been getting its way for far too long? It’s always berating you, saying: “Nothing you do is ever good enough, of course they’re never pleased with you”... “There isn’t even much going on right now, why are you so overwhelmed?”... “You knew waiting until the last second would suck, why do you have to waste so much time making everything perfect?”... Intuitively, you know the Critic is separate from who you are, but it gets so loud and persistent sometimes that your self-esteem can’t help but take a hit. You’ve succumbed to feeling guilty, anxious, and small, & don’t know how to feel better.

Therapy is unique and diverse, as is each individual. Depending on the issue and type of therapy, help can come in the form of support, guidance, information, self-knowledge and/or a space to learn and practice new skills. The center of my practice is focused on building empowerment, balance, self-esteem, and self-awareness. I offer a warm and empathic environment for those facing difficult life transitions, relational challenges, past and present traumas, underlying issues of illness and stress, and any other issues preventing individuals from realizing the freedom and happiness of their true nature.

Immediate openings available! I specialize in working with adults who seek to understand, process, and heal from childhood trauma. Trauma experienced in childhood can have lasting effects on self-perception, relationships, and feelings of safety. As children, we absorb messages without the ability to discern their truth, leading to harmful beliefs about ourselves, such as feeling worthless, like something is wrong with you, or feeling guilty and deserving of mistreatment. These messages can profoundly impact our adult lives, often affecting how we relate to ourselves, our family members, our jobs, and others in our lives.

Aurora recognizes the important roles that relationships, experiences, and beliefs play in our daily lives. Our family and childhood influence our personal development; however, they are not the only determinants of who we become. We are not static beings but live in a state of constant flux, continuing to grow and having the capacity to choose change. Sometimes, changes may feel unwanted, scary or overwhelming. We may struggle in adjusting to them, or feel stuck in old patterns of responding that no longer work for us. Aurora adopts a client-centered approach and values all aspects of a person's physical, mental, and social world.

Immediate availability! My approach to therapy is warm and interactive. You’ll find me using humor a lot; just because therapy is hard work doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! I enjoy getting to know people on a deep level and helping uncover unconscious patterns holding them back. I'm all about getting to the root of a problem, and I will always be honest and direct with you. I offer a holistic approach to therapy and help people gain insight on the developmental experiences that shaped their current belief systems. To me, the biggest compliment is when clients enjoy coming to therapy and feel empowered to heal.

Accepting new clients: in-person & virtual. Did you wake up again today with that nagging feeling in the pit of your stomach, that reminder that something is "off"? Do you feel dread, sadness, fear, anxious, overwhelmed, or some variation of all? Whether you're coming apart at the seams and everyone is noticing, or quietly pretending, both are exhausting. The good news is that it gets better and you don't have to face it alone. Let me be your gentle guide and helping hand along the way.

I work with clients ages 12 and up. I have special passions for treating folks struggling with disordered eating patterns, negative self talk, symptoms of post traumatic stress, self harm, and suicidal ideation: if you feel like life isn't worth living, I want to explore that with you. Instead of shutting it down, let's built a life you DO experience as worth living. As a transgender and autistic therapist I love to work with clients looking to explore and process gender, sexual orientation, and/or neurodivergence.

Integrative Therapists

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
