What? Me . . . traumatized? Surely it's not as bad as . .someone else and their experience. Trauma comes in many forms and disguises. The back part of the brain subconsciously feels we are in a battle or there's a bear in the cave. Our defenses/ways of coping and triggers arise in ways that aren't helpful or productive/controllable. Reactions/responses seem to come from out of nowhere. These can be signs/symptoms of depression, anxiety,and overwhelm. All can be addressed and shifted in counseling, particularly through EMDR. Dr. Laura Fizel is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience treating individuals through the lifespan. She earned her bachelor's degree from The New School for Social Research and her doctorate from Pace University in New York City. She works with school-age children, adolescents, adults and the elderly and provides individual, group, and family therapy. She has provided services in hospital, clinic and school settings. She has taught undergraduate psychology courses as an adjunct professor.

Jayson continued his education at Capella University and completed a Master's in Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He currently holds a Licensee in Mental Health Counseling and Addiction Counseling. Jayson has worked for 7 years in the Indiana Department of Correction with both mental health and addictions populations.

After almost 20 years of practice I know that managing life is challenging and our mental health is at the core of our ability to lead happy and healthy lives. Anna Powers, LCSW Anna Powers is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Indiana who has been practicing since 2015. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work with a Minor in Psychology from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and completed her Master of Social Work at The University of Southern Indiana. Anna's treatment philosophy centers around the belief that therapy is a collaborative endeavor for individuals, couples, and families to heal and grow. Clients are the experts on their own lives and as the therapist, Anna serves as an informed, open-minded, and non-biased guide.

For the last five years Brian has been providing therapeutic treatment to teen girls and their families, in a long term residential setting, helping guide restoration in relationships, family structure and overall mental health functioning. Brian is a generalist but does specialize in working with clients suffering from depression, anxiety, attachment issues, trauma related concerns, personality disorders, and other lifestyle issues such as LGBTQ+, gender, marriage and ENM lifestyles. Gabi has five years experience working with teens, adults, and families, using a collaborative and person-centered approach. She enjoys being the calm in people's storm; providing a space where individuals can intentionally unpack the burdens of life's challenges and connect with their own experiences to cultivate a life of calm and purpose.

No one schedules therapy for grins. Often people come in feeling so uncomfortable that they are ready to put in some hard and sometimes humbling efforts to make changes to how they think, feel and behave. I hope to provide education and guidance for those ready for change but don't know exactly how to. Change is a long and arduous process of self reflection, and not a quick fix or 10 easy steps. Taking on this challenge can be a life changing decision, so it is important to choose your provider carefully.

I want to start out by saying that I'm looking forward to meeting you and working on the issues and goals that brought you into my office. I am extremely passionate about what I do and love my job! It is my belief that everyone has significant strengths and abilities to heal and get to the place in life where they want to be, but sometimes you just need a little bit of help. I use a strengths-based approach and also help clients look into where their issues are coming from instead of just trying to put a Band-Aid on the problem.

For 12 years I have worked with clients of all ages specializing in anxiety, depression, Asperger Syndrome(AS)/autism-level-1, ADHD and twice-exceptionalism(2E). I have experience helping adults facing life decisions regarding career or relationships, especially with those on the autism spectrum in transition. I lead professional trainings and workshops on AS, ADHD and 2E and have created the Indy Women's Autism Marital Support Group (IWAMS). I have spoken at many women's groups and retreats addressing specific issues most relevant to women.

Ashlee is a Carmel native and graduate of Heritage Christian High School. She and her husband, Luke, a graduate of Carmel High School, and their three children, live in Carmel. Some of Ashlee’s favorite things are family time, running, rock climbing, meditation, trips to the lake, and sushi. Ashlee has over a decade of experience working with eating disorders and has a passion to see healing in the lives of those suffering from anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorders. Ashlee is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, one of only around 100 providers with this certification in the United States.

For over 20 years I have worked with a wide variety of clients. I specialize in insight oriented work with individuals, including dream work, offering weekly therapy as well relational psychoanalysis. As a licensed Mental Health Counselor (IN), Diplomate in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Supervisor I provide individual, couple, family and group therapy, and supervision.
