I believe that if you are willing to do the work we can work efficiently and effectively to replace fear with courage, restlessness with contentment, anger with joy, and despair with hope.
I believe the client is the expert. You know your self better than anyone. You know how you feel when life happens, you know what frustrates you and what makes you angry. You know what is upsetting and what makes you sad, and you know when something isn't right or that something is off. The problem is that sometimes you don't know why, and if you don't know why, you can't fix it. I take an approach that starts with uncovering what you believe, because so much of what you believe becomes reality whether it's through our behavior or through some kind of a self fulfilling prophecy.

Life as a human can be an extremely challenging experience. Have you ever felt like you were made for something greater? You are a person, and as a person your life truly matters. I believe that we were created for something so much greater, and one of our great longings is to experience some of that greatness here on earth. Our experiences in life help to shape the way we view the world, and when bad things happen to us that can harm the way we see. I would love to walk alongside you to regain what seems lost. It is my hope to help all of my clients to optimize the person they were created to be! I look forward to meeting you!

The ideal client is one of two kinds of people. The first is the person who knows that something is off center, or off balance, but they need help figuring out why, and the second is the person who knows why they are off balance, but doesn't know what to do about it. In either case, both are not only motivated to seek answers, but they are also motivated to do the work and make the changes that are needed to recenter or rebalance their lives. They take responsibility for the things they need to, but are also able to let the responsibility lie elsewhere if it's not theirs to take.

We aim to provide a safe therapeutic environment that promotes a deeper understanding of self, others, and faith. Our therapeutic approach is anchored in the Christian world view. Our goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

My clients often are aware that something in their current lives is no longer serving them, want to understand how that came to be, and align themselves with the vision they have for their future. This often starts by noticing repeating patterns of behavior in themselves, or those they attract, and becoming curious about the reason why. They may also find that they experience certain physical and emotional responses (anger, anxiety, people pleasing etc.) and know that their body is trying to tell them something needs to shift.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
