As a Marriage and Family Counselor, I work with individuals, couples, and families from adolescents to older adults using psychodynamic, narrative, and solution-focused approaches to help clients understand the cause of their underlying issues.
Couples come and talk about relationship issues and resolutions. Life has struggles, disappointments, and problems that you may be unable to change. However, you can change your approach and how you deal with your problems. I permit clients to explore challenges in a warm, empathetic environment.

I am grounded in a depth-oriented relational psychodynamic psychotherapy and use an integrative approach in my work.
Hi, I'm Ewa (eh-vuh). I honor all human experience just as it is and recognize that life is rarely linear. At times life may bring challenges that impact and even overwhelm our ability to access and utilize our capacity to heal. Through counseling it is possible to be curious, alongside one another, about the questions your life is asking you. I have confidence that we can co-create a space in which the authentic part of you can be seen and heard in ways that honor your truth. I aim to help you process your complex emotional experiences so that you could live with greater ease and comfort in your relationship with self and others.

Life is stressful enough, finding a therapist shouldn't be! If you are curious about why the same symptoms keep returning, it sounds like you are ready to get to the root of the problem. Together we can discover old thought patterns and perspectives which no longer serve you, so that we can make space for something new. Clients describe this process as an awakening to new ways of thinking, feeling, behaving...I call it thriving. If you are challenged by self-doubt, indecisiveness, avoidance, negative thoughts or feelings, allow me to guide you through a deeper understanding of your experiences.

As a therapist, I am most excited to see clients motivated to explore their unknown strengths, widen their horizons, increase their abilities to make informed decisions and lead a life of meaning as they define it. Everyone I have worked with brings to therapy a foundation upon which to grow. Regardless of the problem, an enhanced sense of self is possible. Instilling hope of something better in life is one of my greatest motivations, and assisting others in achieving their goals drew me to this profession.

I have been in the fields of mental health and substance abuse for over 20 years. I enjoy working with all populations. In trying to navigate through substance abuse and mental health issues, there are many factors that envelope a person's ability to cope with life. I understand that asking for help can be difficult and identifying a need for change can induce some fears. I can help you identify any changes that are needed and offer encouragement and support through your journey of self preservation.

The story of our lives often shape our day to day experiences. As we open up to our story and how we ended up at a certain space in our lives, we begin to see patterns. We begin to see unhealthy ways we have responded to people, relationships that have been less than productive, or events that unfolded different than we had hoped. In order to grow and set a new course, we need to identify the patterns that have lead us here. Therapy is about doing just that - uncovering underlying, most the time subconscious, ways of thinking, so that we can become the people that we want to be.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
