My clients often are aware that something in their current lives is no longer serving them, want to understand how that came to be, and align themselves with the vision they have for their future. This often starts by noticing repeating patterns of behavior in themselves, or those they attract, and becoming curious about the reason why. They may also find that they experience certain physical and emotional responses (anger, anxiety, people pleasing etc.) and know that their body is trying to tell them something needs to shift.

Life is so hard when we’re stuck in our own heads; repeating the same scenarios, worries, and self-critical thoughts over and over again - it's exhausting! Does it feel like no matter how hard you try, it’s NEVER all done...figured out...or good enough? Are you spending your energy worrying, stressing and controlling instead of making progress toward your goals? The body tension, migraines and stomach aches (often triggered by stress) make daily life so much harder than it has to be. Anger and sadness take over and our relationships, jobs and family suffer with us.

I treat individuals and couples with anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, addiction, chronic relapse, anger, low self-esteem, co-dependency, unhealthy sexual behaviors, grief and loss, infidelity, poor communication, loss of intimacy, and loss of trust.
Are you feeling “stressed out” and overwhelmed, or concerned that your relationship may be on “life support”? Are you struggling to overcome a history of physical, emotional, or sexual trauma? Have alcohol and/or drugs become a means of coping with anxiety, depression, grief, or the stressors of daily life? Or, are you a man struggling with an addiction to sex or pornography? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you have made the right choice by being here. I know this is difficult. You’ve likely been debating seeking help for months if not years.

Have you been struggling to make sense of some pain and confusion in your life and your story? Maybe you find yourself coping with experiences of anger, self shame, control or avoidance.
I have a passion to journey with couples who seek to restore love and trust in their life and in their relationship(s). When we experience violations to our sense of identity and safety we experience real pain and confusion. It is possible for all of us to find peace and be grounded in the truth of who we are, and discover new ways to act within our daily life and decision making. I especially have an interest in journeying with couples struggling with communication (i.e. decision making), passion and attachment, intimacy, life transitions, and conflict (i.e. anger, shame, control, infidelity, addiction, trauma).

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
