Hello! Are you wanting to start or continue the journey of self-exploration? Are you struggling with an issue and not sure the way forward? A lot of us out there don't feel like we can ask for or accept help, and we need to change the framework around this. Everyone is deserving of help and should get it when needed. Heck, we need it sometimes to get back up. Taking care of our mental health is pivotal to our happiness, growth, and success. My areas of expertise have been addictions/substance use, anxiety, depression, and men's issues.

These challenges can lead to anxiety, depression and often some will turn to self-medicating through substance use.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. I have been working in the social service field over 30 years with 9 years in the mental health and addiction field. I am currently a therapist and a Certified Child & Adolescent Grief Counseling Specialist (CGCS-CA). The things that we endure along the way in life may help shape us but it does not define who we are. Take that first step towards your healing journey by allowing me to work beside you to identify your strengths that will allow you to work through whatever challenges you are currently experiencing

Would you like to thrive in your life, rather than just do your best to survive? I believe that most people routinely tolerate high levels of stress and begin to feel hopeless for far too long before they reach out for support. You could struggle from a change in sleep patterns, feeling overwhelmed, increased anxiety, fighting with family and friends, irritability most days, and feeling disconnected or unhappy with your life. In fact, many people try to survive life this way. I believe that even one of these symptoms is enough reason to seek support.

I am a LCSW, LCAC and EMDR certified with over 9 years of experience with many success stories such as, helping clients move from despair to freedom to live the life they deserve by conquering demons of addiction and/or trauma, overcoming the fears of anxiety, the stronghold of depression, no longer lost in the fog of dissociation, in self-control and learning to love self for the first time after years of trauma and abuse. I have been blessed when children and spouses of clients have expressed their thanks for helping their loved one get on the right path of recovery from addiction and trauma.

Hi! I'm Karisa, and my primary goal as a therapist is to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment. Therapy does not mean giving people prepackaged solutions or the "right" way to think or feel. My approach is collaborative; I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to help you tap into your inner strengths and resources.. Each session can be an opportunity for relief, healing, and allowing time for renewal and creativity in pursuing the development of your authentic self.

Hi, my name is Jami Cecil. At Delta Mental Health Services, we treat all things mental health and addiction. Whether this is your first time reaching out for help, or the 1000th, at DMHS you will find non-judgmental care, straight talk and compassion. I would be honored to be your mental health provider, and a part of your journey. Through my own recovery process and the kind people who had walked the path before me, I was given the opportunity to begin listening to people wiser than me, begin putting pieces of a life together…not back together, but a new together.... It’s hard and not all a pretty story, but it’s a beautiful one.

Life can be difficult. A marriage that's just okay. A chronic illness that has stolen the life you thought you would live. A shining star in your sport now succumbing to anxiety and doubt. You don't know who you are anymore and what purpose you have. You want to be able to see the good in life and not dwell on the negative. You want a significant marriage or relationship. You know you have what it takes to be the best in your sport “if only”. You're ready to LIVE and learn how to find purpose in your suffering. You want hope. You want to understand YOU better and in return have more fulfilling relationships.

Are you on the road of old ways and struggling to open new doors? Let this be the first new door you open. I invite you to pull up a chair to chat and give yourself permission to focus on yourself and your needs. This may be something you do regularly or something you are utterly uncomfortable with due to its unfamiliarity. Change. That's what this is all about. Whether it's us, our situation, our relationships, or our reactions. Something has to change, am I right? The only difference between where we are and where we want to be is the step we have yet to take. Here's that first step, ready to take it?

Are you feeling “stressed out” and overwhelmed, or concerned that your relationship may be on “life support”? Are you struggling to overcome a history of physical, emotional, or sexual trauma? Have alcohol and/or drugs become a means of coping with anxiety, depression, grief, or the stressors of daily life? Or, are you a man struggling with an addiction to sex or pornography? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you have made the right choice by being here. I know this is difficult. You’ve likely been debating seeking help for months if not years.

Substance Use Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
