I believe people can change, because I see it daily with my clients. I believe it because I lost over 130 pounds. My specialties include couples counseling, grief and loss, and trauma. I also have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. I know therapy can feel intimidating. Before becoming a therapist, I was a client and worked with a therapist on ways to improve my quality of life. This experience taught me what clients need. I know that the client/therapist relationship is the most important aspect of treatment. The better the relationship, the more healing that occurs.

It feels like no one understands you. You try to communicate your needs and in turn feel like you are crazy for even sharing. You scroll social media and see others who appear to have it all together and have no worries. You just want to not feel alone. You've done all that you can and feel like you're stuck. But there is help - you don't have to handle it alone. I can work with you and provide you with the support you need.

I have had much success in helping individuals who are struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, attachment problems, the individuals who are currently facing the challenges life has thrown at them, or the individuals who are having relational problems with siblings, parents or other family members.
I have many years of experience in working with people from many different cultural backgrounds and I am very aware of the importance of how our cultures influence our mental health. I love working with individuals and families and have had many success in doing so. I love helping people to have the confidence to be authentically themselves.

Areas of focus include life transitions, grief, death, loss, anxiety, depression, self-identity, LGBTQIA+, self-esteem and self criticism, relationships, career and trauma.
“Together we will cry and face fear and grief. I will want to take away your pain, but instead I will sit with you and teach you how to feel it.”- Brené Brown We are often met with experiences in life that shape us and create patterns of responding to our environments in both healthy and unhealthy ways. We may feel alone in moments of darkness, confusion or in the presence of the unknown; you are not alone! We will work to trust the process of sitting with the uncomfortable, embracing uniqueness and vulnerabilities and identifying thoughts and feelings that prevent us from seeing our best selves.

My training includes EMDR ( trauma care), Family Systems, Grief/Loss, PSI (Pre/Postpartum Depression/Anxiety/OCD for moms/dads/families), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Training (DBT).
Hi, I'm Michele. I'm glad you're here. I know how a situation, involving yourself or a loved one, can consume your life. I became a therapist because I've experienced similar circumstances. Those moments have led me to be an empathetic and effective counselor. We will take things at your pace. This is your time, and we will work together to find healing and growth.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
