I believe people can change, because I see it daily with my clients. I believe it because I lost over 130 pounds. My specialties include couples counseling, grief and loss, and trauma. I also have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. I know therapy can feel intimidating. Before becoming a therapist, I was a client and worked with a therapist on ways to improve my quality of life. This experience taught me what clients need. I know that the client/therapist relationship is the most important aspect of treatment. The better the relationship, the more healing that occurs.

I work best with people who are feeling chained down by their self-esteem, whether that be from their self-talk or external factors such as family, friends, or society. Anyone who is looking to improve their life overall, even if they do not know what that looks like. People who are seeking to heighten their intuition and prioritize growth. I have a special passion for the LGBTQ+ community and am a gay-identifying therapist. I also specialize in mindfulness, grief, and oncology. I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy which allows people to quickly process trauma and other negative experiences in a short amount of time.

I have experience working with adults and teens struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and life transitions such as starting college, marriage, parenthood, career change, and divorce.
Busy schedules, kids, work, family stress and complicated relationships can make us feel out of control. We can lose focus on the important things in life and can be overtaken by our commitments. I know what it’s like to struggle in life. I understand feeling hurt and pain while joy and peace seem out of reach. Finding a good fit with an experienced therapist is important. I offer a safe, confidential, and nonjudgmental space for healing and moving forward in life.

Hello, my name is Hannah! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, providing in-person and tele-health services. I understand how scary it may be to start therapy and enter into a therapeutic relationship. I recognize the courage and vulnerability that it takes to make this step and begin meeting with a therapist. I want to meet you where you are, not where you or anyone else think you "should" or "need" to be. I am committed to providing a safe and comfortable space, where you will feel genuinely heard, seen, and understood.

I’ve been in clinical practice for over seven years, and have worked as a social worker since 2010. I work with all ages because I believe we all need a little support from time to time, no matter our phase of life. I strive to create a collaborative, safe space to explore openly and engage genuinely. Individuals may seek therapy with me for many reasons, and no reason is “more valid” than any other. Some of these might be: self-esteem, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, major life changes, parenting, fertility challenges and/or pregnancy loss, postpartum adjustments, relationship challenges, personal development and growth.

After losing my mother to cancer a few days shy of my 21st birthday, I originally went into social work to become a grief counselor.
Over the years, I’ve worked with clients from age 12 to a 106. Although I hold a special place in my heart for adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, and self-worth issues, I also enjoy working with adults. My aim is to help people who are feeling isolated, know they are not alone; assist people who are feeling hopeless, realize there’s always hope; and help people who are feeling paralyzed by shame, experience healing through self-compassion.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
