With my experience working with infants, children, & adults, I am passionate to share my knowledge with you and your family.
My approach as a board certified art therapist is to use creative and sensory exploration to navigate deeper feelings when words are difficult to articulate. Art therapy is ageless; any age can benefit with no artistic skill required! Some challenges I help children process through include: anxiety, trauma, ADHD, school related issues, and divorce. I also offer the option of traditional talk therapy to work through parenting, pregnancy, anxiety, depression, and life changes. Parents talk through discipline, bonding, anger, and building trust with their kids. Tele-therapy is also available for Indiana and Illinois residents.

Are you the parent or guardian of a child, adolescent, or teen struggling to cope? Perhaps your child has experienced trauma, perhaps your family is going through a divorce or death, perhaps you have concerns about suicide or self-injury. Maybe you can just feel it in your gut that something is wrong. You worry that their struggle will escalate but it's been hard to connect with them lately and you feel unsure about the best way to help. You want the best for your child and know that finding them professional support is your best bet at helping them—and you! —navigate this struggle.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor.
It takes courage to make that first phone call to establish a therapy session and it takes even more courage to meet that therapist being vulnerable in discussing your concerns in this life. My goal when I meet every client is to support them in discovering how to make this life worth living. Many individuals go through life just coasting day by day trying to get by minute by minute. While I can not give you a magical solution to take care of all of life's problems, I can be there for you, listen to you and guide you towards living the best life you can live for you and your family.

I am passionate about working with humans who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, or are interested in exploring their gender or sexuality. Other common themes for the type of work I do with clients includes: processing life changes, coping with depression/anxiety, self esteem, and healthy boundaries with others. I have worked with children for many years in non-social-work settings, and was also mentored by a Play Therapist during my internship for my Master’s degree. I am open to working with children, teens, and adults.

Hi, I’m Brittany! As a resident clinician passionate about supporting children, I have dedicated my practice to creating a safe, nurturing environment where young minds can explore and express themselves freely. Each child’s unique story inspires me, and I am committed to using therapeutic play to foster their growth and healing. My approach is grounded in empathy, patience, friendship, and a genuine love for supporting kids to find their voice and thrive. While I have experience working with all ages, I’ve found a passion for working with littles because of their curiosity, creativity, and imagination.

Navigating through the journey of life we inevitably run into hindrances that challenge our momentum. Change is hard and can often be a sudden and unpredictable, leaving us without the proper tools to cope with these changes. We have to learn to acclimate to our surroundings. Whether it's a traumatic response, addiction, grief and loss, anxiety, loss of confidence, feeling lost and overwhelmed, feelings of depression or stagnation, there's hope. It takes courage to look into a mirror and see whose looking back, it takes strength to want to make a change and hope to inspire change.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
