I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist who is also a member of the LGBTQI community and a strong advocate for Human Rights as well as the concerns related to the LGBTQI community. I believe that when individuals feel unbalanced they experience more struggles in their lives. The mental, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects must all be given attention so that balance in all facets of a person's life can be more easily obtained. The process of therapy is meant to help guide and encourage the client to address current and past issues that may be causing an individual to struggle to gain personal balance and happiness.

My ideal client is someone who comes to therapy in a time of need. They might be experiencing anxiety due to life changes and transitions or they might be experiencing symptoms of anxiety for the first time and be concerned as to where the anxiety came from. The client might be processing loss or grief from a loved one or past friendships and or relationships. My ideal client will have needs such as needing to identify coping skills to get through life stressors, assistance with reaching goals. As a therapist I would be able to provide the client with a objective perspective to bounce their ideas and situations off of.

Hello, my name is Beau. Thank you for taking the time to read more about me, in order to determine if we are good fit to work together. I attended Indiana Wesleyan for my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. During that time, I enlisted in the United States Military in the Indiana Army National Guard, in an Infantry unit. Being in a relationship with a difficult person can be a taxing and painful experience. Initially, the relationship may seem promising, as difficult people can be charming and engaging. As time goes on though, their challenging nature begins to reveal itself. These relationships are often marked by emotional ups and downs, confusion, conflict, criticism, being belittled and blamed, and their refusal to take responsibility for their actions. We end up walking on eggshells trying to avoid their reaction, isolating from our family and friends, feeling helpless and anxious, and moments of calm become overshadowed with constant stress.

The Coronavirus has drastically disrupted all of our lives. Teletherapy is the method I am now using to stay connected to current and new patients. Depression, anxiety, anger, and behavior problems can happen to anyone, especially during this time of social distancing, uncertainty, and fear. Emotional support and understanding can reduce stress and guide you to new sense of normal. Healthcare workers, essential workers, parents, individuals, couples, and children can get guidance and treatment now.

Not accepting new clients
I am not able to accept new clients at this time. Life can hand us struggles, losses and challenges. It takes courage to recognize when staying stagnant is more detrimental than facing our fear of change. Making changes requires work and moving toward hope can be difficult; but we do not do it alone. The decision to begin therapy is courageous and begins a process of not only trusting yourself, but also your therapist. It is my hope to earn the trust of my clients.

I have already counseled my ideal client. I worked with a client who came to me in her most significant time of need. She was ready to put in work and wanted to develop. She was diagnosed with Bipolar I and had several suicide attempts. She could externalize her mania and use fitness and wellness to push through her episodes. She is happy and healthy and uses her experiences to help others. My services involve psychotherapy using techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI), with a trauma-informed framework.

I am passionate about mental health and am grateful I have worked in this field over the last 14 years. As a Marriage and Family therapist for 5 years, I have found my calling working with professional helpers such as first responders, veterans, and military service members. I have a specific interest and expertise in working with professional helpers who have a hard time accepting or asking for help themselves. I have gotten to know the struggles of the professional helpers and their loved ones that I have had the honor to work with.

I have always been someone who cares for others and a natural problem solver. Being a therapist allows me to use both of these strengths to help people. I decided to specialize in OCD because I am passionate about providing quality, evidence-based treatment. OCD is often misdiagnosed or overlooked, and I wanted to be part of the solution to that problem. At NOCD, my team and I specialize in providing evidence-based treatment for OCD. Our understanding of its nuances enables us to properly diagnose and treat it. We have received intensive training in Exposure Response and Prevention Therapy (ERP)—the gold standard treatment for OCD.
