Accepting new clients! I completed my Masters at St Francis and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Master Addiction Counselor. I previously spent 15 years in the child welfare field working with families, children, and adolescents both in and out of the home and have run court-ordered substance abuse groups. I now own my own practice, which is a culmination of all my previous experiences. At Thrive Therapy I take a holistic and integrated approach, treating each client as an individual with unique needs. Every session is tailored according to the client's current situation.

I recognize that making the choice to begin therapy can be difficult and sometimes overwhelming. It is with this understanding, that I respect the courage and motivation that each person brings with them into the therapy relationship. My ultimate goal is to assist and support individuals, couples, and families as they navigate the stressors of daily life as well as hardships of life changes.

Choosing to pursue counseling can seem scary, especially if past experiences have shown you that vulnerability isn’t always safe. I openly welcome and accept all emotions and I believe that doing so can help to guide us towards greater understanding, healing, and authenticity. I strive to create an environment where we can converse openly without judgment. Together, we can work towards understanding and reprocessing any experiences that have left an imprint on your life.

My ideal client is someone who comes to therapy in a time of need. They might be experiencing anxiety due to life changes and transitions or they might be experiencing symptoms of anxiety for the first time and be concerned as to where the anxiety came from. The client might be processing loss or grief from a loved one or past friendships and or relationships. My ideal client will have needs such as needing to identify coping skills to get through life stressors, assistance with reaching goals. As a therapist I would be able to provide the client with a objective perspective to bounce their ideas and situations off of.

Being in a relationship with a difficult person can be a taxing and painful experience. Initially, the relationship may seem promising, as difficult people can be charming and engaging. As time goes on though, their challenging nature begins to reveal itself. These relationships are often marked by emotional ups and downs, confusion, conflict, criticism, being belittled and blamed, and their refusal to take responsibility for their actions. We end up walking on eggshells trying to avoid their reaction, isolating from our family and friends, feeling helpless and anxious, and moments of calm become overshadowed with constant stress.

My ideal client would struggle with diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, or mood-related issues. This client would be self-motivated and have identified goals that are being held back or complicated by their mental health issues. The client would be able to identify areas that are strengths and weaknesses for themselves and would be willing to put forth the effort that is growth and change. Also, this client would be open to new and different suggestions for coping strategies or ways of thinking about difficulties they may experience in order to learn and grow.

As your therapist, we will process anxiety, depression, past traumas, reroute negative behaviors, & learn how lived experiences impact the way you view the world currently. My clients often seek therapy because they are wanting to uncover the meanings behind their emotions; together, we are often able to uncover the meaning behind these emotions by better understanding past traumas encountered. Only then, can we replace negative behaviors that have stemmed from these traumas, together. I provide a safe & genuine space for LGBTQ clients & practice from an inclusive & client-centered perspective.

Showing up to do the work of healing is an act of bravery, and I am honored to walk alongside individuals as they navigate this process. I work with adults looking for help navigating big emotions (anxiety, depression, anger, etc...), wanting to improve relationships, looking to process traumatic life experiences, and desiring to connect with their truest and most authentic selves. I also enjoy working with adults who are in a faith deconstruction process.

A client who desires to accept partnership and engage in being open to change is the most ideal client. I prefer to work with adults and older adolescents struggling with addictions, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and trauma. I have a vast amount of experience working in the field of trauma. Due to my experience working in community mental health, I also work well with those with intense mental health and substance abuse treatment needs. I have worked both inpatient and outpatient experiences, resulting in my flexibility to help stabilize in a crisis and to work with individuals at any level.

Life can hand us struggles, losses and challenges. It takes courage to recognize when staying stagnant is more detrimental than facing our fear of change. Making changes requires work and moving toward hope can be difficult; but we do not do it alone. The decision to begin therapy is courageous and begins a process of not only trusting yourself, but also your therapist. It is my hope to earn the trust of my clients.

As a therapist, I am most excited to see clients motivated to explore their unknown strengths, widen their horizons, increase their abilities to make informed decisions and lead a life of meaning as they define it. Everyone I have worked with brings to therapy a foundation upon which to grow. Regardless of the problem, an enhanced sense of self is possible. Instilling hope of something better in life is one of my greatest motivations, and assisting others in achieving their goals drew me to this profession.

Many of my clients have struggled with anxiety, depression, relational issues, grief, and just feeling stuck in their lives. They often choose to come to counseling to better understand themselves and how they want others to see them. I would love to see if we can work together to help you overcome your struggles and move closer to meeting your goals for the future.

Everyone needs a space where they feel their thoughts and feelings matter. I aim to create a space where people can explore what's on their mind without fear of judgment. I’m experienced with EMDR and Internal Family Systems informed care, which are powerful approaches that help people to process trauma and become a wiser, more balanced version of themselves. I specialize in treating PTSD, issues with dissociation, LGBTQ+, and anxiety/depression. I also enjoy working with addictions or those who are in recovery from addictions, as well as with children and teens.
