Are you suffering from a broken heart? Did a divorce, or the end of a romantic relationship cause it? Or have you experienced pet loss, death by suicide, homicide, overdose, or experience a toxic relationship? Grief is a person’s response to loss, entailing emotions, thoughts and behaviors as well as physiological changes. Grief is permanent after we lose someone close though it’s manifestations are variable both within and between people. We focus on promoting healing milestones and addressing stuck points in adapting to loss using active listening and personalized interventions with specific tools to help you cope with the loss.

Human connection is a necessity. Yet, why do the ones we love the most seem to hurt us in the worst ways? If only they would listen, be understanding and meet our needs. Love should be easy, yes? What if I told you these paradigms of thinking hinder our ability to fully connect and get the love and relationships we desire? My area of focus is couples, married and unmarried, as well as families and adults/adolescents in dysfunctional relationship systems.

If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship or career issues, I offer a collaborative, non-judgmental approach to therapy. I enjoy being a witness to your life and can be a sounding board. Adolescents tend to respond really well to me and they make up half of my caseload. I also work with adults struggling with anxiety, narcissistic abuse, depression and life transitions like career changes, relationship changes, and life purpose issues.

The best indicator of success in therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist, if my profile speaks to you, reach out! I am looking forward to working with you.
Are you experiencing a major life change, such as divorce and relationship stress, career transition and burnout, caregiver/compassion fatigue, grief and loss, health/medical issues, or everyday life stress? Are you looking for someone to offer compassionate support while you process these life events? I pride myself on holding space for others in life's hardest moments, and feel honored to watch my client's transform in ways they did not know were possible. I meet clients as they are and provide a safe space to reconnect with what they value and experiment with responding to the world around them more effectively.

I strive to provide a collaborative therapeutic relationship, working from the belief that every person has inner strengths waiting to be realized.
My style is down-to-earth, direct, and personal. This type of therapy aims to change both our outward struggles and behaviors that can seem baffling and distressing while understanding the issues that underlie them. These deeper forces - hidden from view and rooted in our past and early relationships - can result in the greatest difficulty, and cause us to feel stuck, confused, empty, or out of control. Having the involvement and perspective of another person can help alleviate pain, shift old patterns, recover from difficulties, and lead to lasting change.

I have been working with individuals and couples for 28 years. Many of the clients I see suffer from depression, anxiety, work and relationship issues (including communication problems, feeling disconnected, infidelity, and divorce). I help clients find new ways of coping, seeing and thinking, and relating. Although I am knowledgeable and skilled in several therapeutic methods, I don't believe in "one-size-fits-all" therapy. Instead, I adapt my treatment plan to meet the needs, goals, and personality of each client.

"Your Relationship Roadmap" is a weekend workshop just for neurodiverse couples.
Are you in a neurodiverse relationship or exploring the possibility that you or your partner may be on the autism spectrum? When you and your partner are wired differently, it can be easy to misunderstand each other and to feel disconnected from one another. Unintended hurts can accumulate over time, causing feelings of resentment and hopelessness. Attempts to create change in your relationship start with good intentions and earnest promises, but then too often the same challenges pop right back up. While your differences may be part of what you most love about one another, at times it can feel impossible to find common ground.

I want to work with you if you’re facing long-standing personality issues or relationship struggles growing out of them. Though not a psychoanalyst, I am strongly informed by psychoanalytic theory, particularly object relations and intersubjectivity. I like to work with individuals once or twice a week over periods of at least a year or two, and weekly with couples, focusing on the overlap between emotional issues that arise in the therapy room, in your life outside of therapy, and in your family of origin. I'm interested in concerns growing out of cultural difference, religious commitment, and immigration.

I believe in our capacity to heal in relationship and our power to overcome great hardship.
Are you feeling stuck in overcoming a relationship or personal struggle that is holding you back from the life you desire? Are you ready for a change but not sure how to get there? Wanting to address relationship issues, family of origin issues, feelings of anxiety, depression and/or face your addictions? I have advanced training in Trauma, EMDR, Gestalt , Imago, Emotionally Focused Couples Training, and addictions. I include Mindfulness tools in much of my work. Would you benefit from a group of women to address underlying issues that impact your recovery from an addiction/alcoholism?

I have 41 years experience counseling people with relationship issues; couples with family and marital problems; parents needing help with teens; straight and gay/lesbian couples wanting a healthier relationship. Relationship problems trigger issues like low self esteem, depression, and anxiety. I believe that most unhappiness stems from one or more problem relationships. My ideal client is tired of others trying to control or change them through behaviors like criticism, nagging, threatening, blaming, and complaining. And, my ideal client is one who wants to stop using these same behaviors that are harmful to their relationships.

I work from a psychodynamic and interactive perspective to assist individuals, couples, and families to become more conscious of how their past experiences have shaped current relationships. Many clients are experiencing difficulties, challenges, psychological pain, and life transitions and wish to move into a more joyful, meaningful, and peaceful life. We work together to discover patterns and connections that can help lead to greater self-understanding so that we can understand ourselves in relationship to others.

The majority of my clients, whatever their ages, suffer from anxiety and depression and have relationship issues.
If you value experience and need to talk over some painful issues, I would like to meet with you. After over 50 years as a clinical psychologist, I'm still devoted to exploring the personal worlds and relationships of my clients. I take a conversational, collaborative approach to the search for new ways to solve old problems and deepen relationships. Sessions usually occur weekly or at least every other week to maintain a constructive intensity and continuity of effort toward self-awareness and increasing coping skills.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
