Couples and individuals can expect a very self-reflective experience with an emphasis on building resources to help change unhelpful patterns or reduce distress from painful triggers.
Clients seek my help to navigate the struggles and difficulties that often revolve around intimacy/sexuality, family conflict, and personal identity. Those who desire to repair conflicts, reduce problematic (sexual, spiritual, emotional) patterns, establish healthier relationships, or heal trauma interfering with the present will align well. I earned my PhD in Clinical Sexology. This allowed me to professionally expand my practice from relational to deeply personal as sexuality impacts so much. Clients find this work highly valuable.

I'm a warm, accepting, and empathetic therapist, but I will also give honest and direct feedback when it’s helpful. I became a therapist because I’ve always enjoyed listening to understand, which often leads to clarity and ideas for resolution. I've been a full time therapist since 2015 (I spent three years as a therapeutic case manager after graduating in 2012). I offer couples a safe place to communicate feelings and concerns with support so that each partner can be heard and better understood. I offer individuals a place to process thoughts and emotions with helpful questions and brief insights to find healing and resolve.

Are you struggling to show up authentically in your relationships? Maybe you've been to therapy before, but you haven't found the right fit yet. I support clients with relational difficulties, especially related to self-worth, people pleasing, or perfectionism. I also work with couples struggling with communication, emotional intimacy, boundary setting and divorce discernment. I have worked with many late-identified neurodivergent clients to address depression, anxiety or relationship concerns through self-acceptance. My approach is neurodivergent-affirming, rather than behavioral-based. I strive to be an LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC ally.

When I think of my "ideal" client, I don’t have a specific person in mind. I believe that each individual carries their own unique life experiences, particularly those shaped by trauma. As a therapist, my mission is to create a safe space for clients to explore their challenges, needs, and goals as we cultivate a trusting therapeutic relationship. Trust is vital, and I want my clients to feel comfortable enough to let me in as we navigate their journeys together.

I treat individuals, couples, and families within the context of their systems. A systemic approach to therapy means viewing your challenges within the context of school, work, medical concerns, marriage, family, etc. I believe that being a healthy person means having good boundaries in your biological, psychological, social, emotional and spiritual dimensions of life.

My goal is to help you trust in yourself and others again, feel joy again, and find hope again.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
