We can utilize talk therapy, ART therapy, or brainspotting to get you to the place you need to be.
Do you struggle with using substances as a way to cope, and it is impacting your life in a negative way? Or is your teenager having trouble managing the anxiety and pressure of school and life? Are their grades lacking due to difficulty focusing, staying organized and on task? I often see adults and teens struggling with regulating emotions, navigating relationships, and managing the stressors of daily life? These struggles can wreck self-esteem, leave you feeling stuck, and feel so overwhelming to face alone. If this sounds like you or your teen, I am here to help you in finding balance, motivation, and change in your life.

Brainspotting is a powerful, efficient and effective approach that uses your brain and body to access your natural ability to heal.
You're overwhelmed, on edge, and feeling like you've failed...again. People around you don't seem to notice, but inside you're crumbling. You replay your conversations and try to figure out what went wrong. No matter how well you do, it feels like you're disappointing someone. You beat yourself up about your mistakes. You lay awake thinking about how to solve your problems. You've tried self-help, considered medication, and even been to therapy, but you're spinning your wheels. You're motivated and ready to do whatever it takes to conquer anxiety and find confidence in your abilities.

My body-based treatment choices reflect this - I am an SEP, meaning I have my certificate in Somatic Experiencing and I am a certified Brainspotting therapist.
For the Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and Empath, the world can be an overwhelming place. These individuals are “super sensing” - their central nervous systems process sensory and energetic information more deeply than the average person. Years of taking in this level of input without awareness and compassion can lead to symptoms of anxiety, depression, patterns of codependency, and unresolved trauma. Your heightened capacity to absorb information does not have to hinder your personal growth & well-being. I specialize in partnering with HSP’s & Empaths as they process traumatic experiences and create positive change in their lives.

Please reach out if you are interested in Gottman-style couple's counseling and Brainspotting.
My ideal client is ready for some change. My ideal client is open to ideas and willing to give input. I love working with (newly coupled), pre-marital couples and with the empty-nesting couples...and everything in between. I'm also drawn to those who just want to keep a good check on their relationship as it goes. As well, I work with couples experiencing some bumps in their journey. I like to see people willing to try something new as Brainspotting is really taking off. I have also found that I am a good match with middle-aged people, especially those who are not 100% sold on therapy yet.

I am an EMDR- and Brainspotting-trained, licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), national certified counselor (NCC), trained school counselor, and I hold professional membership with the American Counseling Association (ACA).
I am motivated by a genuine curiosity to understand each person's unique perspective, and I believed that successful therapy begins with providing individuals a space to be authentic and vulnerable. I view counseling as a conversation about your story, a process to empower you to make meaning of your experiences, challenges and ambitions. I believe that all clients have the capacity for self-discovery and problem solving. Therefore, I work collaboratively with adolescents and adults to improve emotional control, develop self-acceptance, and cultivate fulfilling relationships.

Brainspotting Therapists

How does brainspotting work?

Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?

Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?

Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?

A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
