Relational distress can make life seem unbearable. Family conflict, marital distress, emotional wounds, and parenting concerns can overtake our lives and keep us feeling alone, disconnected, and overwhelmed. But relational distress doesn’t have to dictate the quality of our life. We can and do learn better ways of being with ourselves and others. As a marriage and family therapist and natural relational health practitioner, my specialty is helping individuals, couples, and marriage partners learn new ways of thinking about their relationships that become new ways of being in relationships.

My ideal client would be vulnerable yet aware in the beginning. They would be open to learning about therapy options. They would also have many questions, including sharing their fears regarding therapy. My ideal client would also be prepared to complete homework assignments and truly engage in each session. During the therapeutic sessions, I would learn what each emotion looks like for my client and how it impacts their lives. My ideal client's growth is evident in each session that they participate in, and they never give up on them.

THERAPY: I hear so much negativity in our field about work with people. But - I am amazed by some of the people that step foot into my office. I am in awe of their ability to smile through pain. I feel blessed that I get to share in their strong, resilience and desire to grow and change. I learn so much from them. I’m also frustrated with societies message that emotions like anger, resentfulness and jealousy are abnormal for us to feel. Sometimes they interfere with other parts of our life. These people that I encounter on a day-to-day basis are amazing, beautiful people. To all of them I say-

I specialize in adult/individual counseling, marital/couples counseling, adventure therapy, divorce support, trauma, grief/loss, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, spiritual development, and men's issues. I enjoy working with individuals of diverse age groups, from childhood to adulthood. I am a reunification therapist, mediator, and custody evaluator. I am contracted with the Lotus Group to provide these services to children, adolescents and adults; as well as their families. My practice in regards to children has consisted of, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, grief/loss, adjusting to divorce/blended families, etc., as well as, behavior issues in the home as well as school setting. I also work with adolescents and adults struggling with similar issues as well as addictions and eating disorders.

My therapeutic focus is on helping clients identify and take responsibility for addressing issues ranging from minor life adjustment problems to serious mental health conditions based in brain chemistry deficits. Licensed as a clinical social worker since 1993, I have worked in the behavioral health field since 1979 in a variety of mental health and addictions-focused settings, including inpatient/hospital, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and educational programs. I also have an LMHC and an LCAC. I consider it an honor to work with clients courageous enough to ask for and accept help in meeting life's challenges.
