My aim is to empower you to become better acquainted with SELF and to reimagine and redirect your life without the effects of past trauma being your compass.
Hello, my name is Yolanda Jones and I am excited to meet you. I'm looking forward to getting to know you more and learning how I may help you feel better through our therapy work. My ideal client is one who realizes that change starts with him/ her. My ideal client is ready to take action following an understanding that yesterday’s trauma unknowingly, and unconsciously can keep one in a state of maladaptive feelings such as low self-esteem, anger, guilt, shame, jealousy, or perfectionism.

I also use a trauma informed approach.
Life can be extremely difficult to navigate at times, especially when going through major life transitions or struggling with mental health. The combination of these two things can affect our well-being. Participating in therapy can help to guide you through the waves of life. I often describe my approach to clients as we are riding in a boat together, you are steering the boat but I’m in the back and can help to be your guide. Together we can navigate the waters of what life brings or what has been floating to the surface that has become an obstacle.

Some issues include depression, anxiety, ADHD, behavior concerns, dual diagnosis, OCD, and PTSD.
As we go through life we face challenges, from these challenges we may experience pain and suffering. As this pain becomes stored within us it creates burdens that may sometimes be too heavy to bear. As a result many may turn to temporary solutions. As I work with clients to explore and resolve pain and trauma more permanent solutions are often discovered and the burden of pain is reduced.

I’ve worked the entire lifespan focusing on depression, anxiety, PTSD and ADHD.
I’m so thankful you’re here, looking for hope and healing for yourself. The courage you are already showing tells me you’re going to overcome whatever it is that brings you here, and I’m right beside you to root for you and encourage you every step of the way. We are going to focus on your strengths and I’ll teach you tools to get through your days as you regain the peace in your journey. I enjoy working with any age group, including children, and want to welcome you into a safe space, free from judgment and full of hope…and likely some fun and laughs along the way.

“Together we will cry and face fear and grief. I will want to take away your pain, but instead I will sit with you and teach you how to feel it.”- Brené Brown We are often met with experiences in life that shape us and create patterns of responding to our environments in both healthy and unhealthy ways. We may feel alone in moments of darkness, confusion or in the presence of the unknown; you are not alone! We will work to trust the process of sitting with the uncomfortable, embracing uniqueness and vulnerabilities and identifying thoughts and feelings that prevent us from seeing our best selves.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over eight years of experience, I specialize in addressing obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder ( PTSD) through the use of ERP and EMDR.
Living with OCD can feel overwhelming and exhausting. Intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors may seem impossible to escape, even though they bring only temporary relief. These cycles can disrupt your daily life, relationships, and self-esteem, leaving you feeling stuck and frustrated. Struggling with doubts, fears, or needing certainty is common. The weight of these thoughts can feel isolating, but you're not alone in this experience.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
