Hi Everyone, my name is Imelda Avila, and I'm a licensed clinical social worker. I am truly passionate about helping individuals during a difficult period in life. I believe everyone deserves a safe environment to begin healing. I have experience working with a variety of age groups, socioeconomic backgrounds, experiences, and diversity. I have worked with individuals during the hardest time of their life; dealing with end-of-life, new medical diagnosis, depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, crisis intervention, grief/loss, and family dynamics.
My priority is genuinely engaged in the therapeutic relationship, having unconditional positive regard for my client, feeling empathy, and having clear communication.
My approach is strength-based. I believe in meeting the client where they're at. I want to be intentional in listening to understand their values, needs, desires, and even their trauma responses. I use CBT and SFBT, as both will help me identify treatment goals that have positive results whether it's a short or long-term relationship.
