My name is Imari Childs, LCSW, as a therapist of over 10 years I use a common sense approach to therapy, as the the therapist-client relationship is one of the most important aspects of the transformation experience. My approach is that of a facilitator, empowering one to remember that they are in the driver's seat through their journey for change and that I merely help with the navigation process. My focus has been primarily on working with clients experiencing challenges with life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, ADD/ADHD, relationship issues, and experiences for historically oppressed populations.
My approach is based upon empowering the client via skill building to promote positive self-transformation, this is achieved with CBT, Mindfulness, and Reality Therapy empirically based approaches. I use the Gottman Method in serving couples.
I offer a judgment-free zone, open dialogue, empathetic and pragmatic so that clients could readily use the tools in the real world for an optimal experience.
