These clients often face anxiety, identity struggles, and cultural conflicts. They need a safe, supportive space to explore their feelings and experiences. Their goals are to build resilience, improve communication, and achieve a sense of belonging. I incorporate diverse techniques to address their unique needs, always taking a relational, cultural, and trauma- focused approach in my work.

Dr. Ashley Petersen received her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Child/Family Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology. She gained extensive experience while completing her training in various mental health settings, including with behaviorally and emotionally challenged children and foster children and their families. Dr. Petersen has a vast amount of experience in conducting psychological evaluations with children, adolescents, and adults with ADHD, learning disabilities, & developmental disorders. She has experience attending IEP meetings & providing recommendations for schools.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Linguistics, with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies, from Northwestern University. I subsequently attended Northern Illinois University, where I earned my Master of Arts in Psychology and Specialist in School Psychology degrees. I currently work full-time as an Early Childhood School Psychologist. I have considerable experience conducting psychological assessments for individuals ages 2-22 in educational and clinical settings.

I have extensive experience working with school-aged children experiencing social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. I provide full psychological assessments as well as individual and family therapeutic intervention typically working with children and their families engaging in intervention strategies to better moderate struggles related to ADHD and Mood Disorders. Additionally, I also work therapeutically with children experiencing peer difficulties and social skills deficits consistent with a Nonverbal Learning Disability, ADHD and Mood Disorders.

I am a licensed clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in neuropsychological evaluations and treatment. I work with patients (18+) who present with various neurological, medical, and/or psychiatric conditions, such as dementia, epilepsy, and ADHD. I also help patients regain confidence and autonomy through cognitive rehabilitation. With cognitive rehabilitation, we will work together to identify areas of cognitive weakness, learn compensatory strategies, retrain skills, adjust and accept new changes, regain confidence, autonomy and self-efficacy, and improve your daily and emotional functioning.
