I enjoy working with families from all backgrounds. My ideal clients are young children to adolescents, LGBTQ+ individuals, and multicultural families, including first- and second-generation Latinx individuals navigating generational differences. These clients often face anxiety, identity struggles, and cultural conflicts. They need a safe, supportive space to explore their feelings and experiences. Their goals are to build resilience, improve communication, and achieve a sense of belonging. I incorporate diverse techniques to address their unique needs, always taking a relational, cultural, and trauma- focused approach in my work.

We are constantly impacted by our environment from family, friends, communities, and institutions and we are impacted with the relationships we have with each of these systems. We can internalize these interactions which makes it difficult to cope. I utilize a systems theory approach that highlights strengths-based, solution-focused, and trauma-informed practices. I lean into a decolonized and relational approach to the work we do together. My hope is to better understand these dynamics alongside with you and assist you to understand how to overcome the stressors and barriers attached.

Moving intentionally in the direction of change isn't always as straight-forward as we would like. You, your child, or your family may be facing a period of difficulty and struggling with coping, connection, and the way forward. My role is to assist by walking alongside you and guiding you and your family in seeing things that may be too overwhelming to face alone. Together, we will work on making sense of what happened, is happening, help you find clarity, and (re)build a sense of internal agency and purpose as well as relational cohesion and safety.

As an individual, whom has also dismantled her own shame concerning past relational patterns; I wish to ensure that the individuals I interact with feel seen in theirs; without judgement. Along with feeling validated when going through the overwhelming process of grief, that accompanies change/growth. My intent is never to tell you your story, but rather help you find your emotional language to express it at your comfort. Rather than being your voice, I wish to help you find yours. Which may look unique for each person, and incorporate other mediums such as art or music; as opposed to just words.

As a South Asian therapist, I understand the deep value of family and the intricate meanings tied to being an immigrant and a woman of color. I believe that every person's lived experiences uniquely shape their life and perceptions, which is why finding congruence and meaning in one’s life is important. In my practice, I utilize an integrative approach that blends systems, humanistic, and multicultural frameworks.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
