I tailor treatment to each individual or couple but most frequently use client-centered, solution focused, strengths-based, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Sometimes our life journey takes us a little off course. This detour might be due to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship or identity issues, career or school issues, or other life circumstances that leave us feeling stressed or stuck. If you are experiencing emotional pain or feeling overwhelmed, you probably know how these emotional states can drain your energy and interfere with your ability to feel fulfilled in your life. Whether your symptoms are situational or long-term, therapy can help. I provide affordable, caring, collaborative, client-specific treatment to tweens, teens, and adults seeking growth and healing.

Being human and experiencing life’s ups and downs can sometimes take a mental and emotional toll. Our stories are not meant for everyone, but sharing what is held inside with someone trustworthy can liberate us, help shift our perspective, and help us find new ways to welcome wellness back into everyday life. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life, ages, genders, or in a phase of discovering themselves. I believe every individual deserves the opportunity to explore their mental health, heal, evolve, and ultimately thrive in today’s complex world.

I work with anyone who has sleep issues, anxiety, trauma, rage, chronic pain, a phobia, grief...any emotional or mental issue, limiting belief, habit, or replaying memory would be great to bring to me. Those ready for this work want to dive deep into their unconscious patterns that have kept them stuck or sick. When one is aware of the power of your and your brain's potential but hasn't gotten the tools to flourish, NLP and parts work (I use Core Transformation) can fill that gap! Many of us do not know HOW to get to the results we know are possible, and a brain-based approach may be just what you need to solve your problem.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a commonly used best practice for treating PTSD and trauma-related problems for individuals.
*Now accepting new clients.* This practice has been developed to help adults that have experienced some form of trauma, life changing event, or adjustment concern. These experiences don't have to be recent; you just want to address them now to free your mind from the thoughts. Anxiety, depression, and trauma therapy is led through multiple therapy types depending on the client. Through a client/provider collaborative relationship we can choose the best practices to address your concerns in the most time-sensitive way possible. My clients are looking to move past the thoughts they feel have been "hounding" them or holding them back.

I am passionate about helping young people find their way! I work with teens and young adults experiencing depression, anxiety, anger, behavioral concerns, and the effects of trauma.
Do you want help at this time but do not know where to look? Have you been impacted by the legal system and hope to grow from the experience? Do you feel misunderstood and are looking for a place of acceptance? Seeking help can be difficult for many people, and my goal is to provide a place where asking for help is seen as a strength rather than a weakness. I like to create an environment where clients can be authentic without judgment and develop the necessary skills to overcome life's stressors.

My life purpose is to break generational curses and make mental health a household conversation. Being a woman of color, mental health has not always been an assessable conversation. In the black community, we are always told to be strong, get over things quickly, and keep looking forward. Unfortunately, that meant we spent years overlooking normal human emotions that caused us to develop bad and unhealthy habits and relationships as an adult. Now, being a mental health professional and therapist, I am destined to make a difference, make mental health an enjoyable conversation, and continue to help bridge the gap.

Behavioral Issues Therapists

What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?

No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.

What therapy types help with behavioral issues?

Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.

How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?

Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.

How effective is therapy for behavior issues?

Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
