Making the decision to change is often difficult as there is comfort in holding onto old ways of thinking or patterns of behavior even when they are ineffective and no longer serve us well. My goal is to help guide you through the change or healing process. My therapeutic approach is supportive and collaborative. I work with adults and older adolescents with anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. I also have significant experience working with individuals experiencing life transitions, relationship/marital issues, stress management or coping skill difficulties, grief and loss, abuse and trauma, and substance use disorders.

I specialize in working with complex PTSD/trauma, addictions and relationship struggles.
I deeply value creating a space where the present moment is used to become more aware, conscious and compassionate about one’s own internal experience and believe from that space change and healing occurs. I follow a psychodynamic approach and tend to look at spaces and dynamics with an emphasis on attachment and attachment styles. However, I also understand the value of integrating a structured approach that provides concrete tools to facilitate change; I am a deep believer that that through well-targeted and intentional activity, people can begin to engage in their life differently.

I believe that each person is deserving of fulfillment in every relationship. My ideal client is wanting to be more aware of relational patterns so that they can recreate the moments they desire most. My goal is to help people feel heard and accepted within their relationships. I do this through creating an environment where differences are appreciated and authentic choices can be identified to maintain connection.

I provide therapy for individuals and couples navigating a variety of issues. I particularly enjoy working with adults dealing with anxiety related to perfectionism, over-functioning, burnout, or codependency / boundary issues. I also work with those navigating relationship challenges, family of origin issues, religious trauma, or faith transitions. A good therapeutic fit for my approach is someone interested in doing deep introspective work, exploring the roots underneath presenting problems and including the body in the process.

I have specific expertise working with the LGBTQIA+ community, focusing on relationship issues.
My career began providing direct service and resources to families of domestic violence, substance use, and homelessness. I am passionate about helping others discover the root of their challenges and encouraging change through an eclectic and trauma-informed approach. I believe we all have a purpose, and our lives are most fulfilled when we walk in that purpose.

I bring to my work a BA in Sociology & Gender Studies, a Master of Social Work, and more than 15 years working with LGBTQIA+ folx, people who have experienced trauma, & diverse relationship constellations.
You deserve to feel seen. Many of the people I have worked with have experienced pain or the weight of high expectations from themselves and others around them. Witnessing others experience the transformative power of their authentic selves and overcome challenges has been a privilege. I practice from a lens of radical empathy: I am honored to hold space for you as you work through things that feel heavy, cheer you on when it begins to feel easy again - and walk with you for all the moments in between.

Thank you for visiting my profile and I invite you to come and "expand" with me. Moving through the transitions and stressors of life can be challenging. Often, we move through these challenges with ease, but at other times, we can become overwhelmed and find that what typically works for us is no longer working. We may be constricted by our typical ways of coping. In my practice, I help guide clients towards solutions and expanding one’s repertoire of coping behaviors, interpersonal skills, and wellness! I strive to help people create stability, mental strength, and harmony in their relationship with self and others.

Be it a relationship, a traumatic childhood, the disappointment of not achieving life's goals or an illness; we mourn what could have been and what's gone.
I offer a calming and gentle approach to clients that enhances their comfort levels and allows for open discussion of problem areas. Together, we investigate the factors that cause and contribute to their issues. Together, we investigate coping skills and factors that will diminish symptoms and work toward resolution of these life issues. In the words of one client: "If what I have to say doesn't upset you, then maybe it isn't as bad as I feared." Mood disorders, autism spectrum disorders, relationship conflicts as well as loss and grief issues are among my treatment specialties.

I believe the relationship between therapist and client is integral to positive therapeutic outcomes. I enjoy helping clients discover their own creative potential in addressing the life issues they face, so I tailor therapy to suit each person's distinctive needs and desired well-being. I am interested in serving children and parents: for over a decade, I have worked with hundreds of children and parents in the field of music, and the understanding I have gained through this work greatly enriches the therapeutic process, and gives me valuable perspectives on developmental, familial, and parenting issues.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
