My most recent work as a Bereavement Counselor in a Hospice setting has allowed me to put into practice my many years of loss and grief training.
I offer a calming and gentle approach to clients that enhances their comfort levels and allows for open discussion of problem areas. Together, we investigate the factors that cause and contribute to their issues. Together, we investigate coping skills and factors that will diminish symptoms and work toward resolution of these life issues. In the words of one client: "If what I have to say doesn't upset you, then maybe it isn't as bad as I feared." Mood disorders, autism spectrum disorders, relationship conflicts as well as loss and grief issues are among my treatment specialties.

My areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, grief/loss, men’s issues, and relationship concerns with an emphasis on healthy communication.
“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.” It may surprise you that this is a quote from Albert Einstein, but it perfectly captures the therapy process. My name is Tim Paquette, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience providing counseling support to people who take the brave step to address their mental health concerns. That starts with the working relationship I create that focuses on each person’s unique concerns, experiences, perspectives, and identities. With a safe, supportive, and trusting foundation in place, we will work together to meet your specific goals in therapy.

I am passionate in serving clients from diverse backgrounds ages 5 and older. I am open to clients who are ambivalent about counseling, maybe coming for the first time, to highly motivated for support. I work with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, identity and meaning, faith/spiritual and family/relational concerns, and those who might consider understanding how the past impacts them now. I have valued my work in the community-group homes, therapeutic day school, outpatient counseling and university counseling center-as I desire to connect clients to resources and their community if needed.

I also provide help with attachment issues, complex relational trauma, PTSD, issues of grief and loss, depression and post-partum depression, ADHD, and the manifestation of these issues in the dynamics of the family.
I believe the relationship between therapist and client is integral to positive therapeutic outcomes. I enjoy helping clients discover their own creative potential in addressing the life issues they face, so I tailor therapy to suit each person's distinctive needs and desired well-being. I am interested in serving children and parents: for over a decade, I have worked with hundreds of children and parents in the field of music, and the understanding I have gained through this work greatly enriches the therapeutic process, and gives me valuable perspectives on developmental, familial, and parenting issues.

She knows not everyone responds to every approach or intervention, so she's flexible in her sessions and focuses on finding the best treatment plan for results. Kayla supports both children and adults, but she especially enjoys play and art therapy for kids. She provides treatment for anxiety, behavioral issues, attention issues, trauma, grief, and more. In therapy, Kayla does not treat clients like they are broken and need to be fixed. Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
