My interventions and techniques are pulled from evidence based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness based strategies.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and obtained my M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Central Washington University in 2022. I have worked in a variety of settings including college campus, inpatient substance abuse treatment, and a correctional facility. I am most experienced in working with mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress/life transitions, grief/loss, and ADHD. However, I have worked with a wide range of issues and feel comfortable working with most clinical concerns. In my work I use a humanistic approach that is personally tailored to my clients’ strengths.

I believe it is important to curate therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, REBT, Strengths-Based, to meet the needs of each individual.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process between the client and therapist. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment. I enjoy utilizing a person-centered approach to sessions and meeting the client where they are. The client knows their narrative best, I find it important to consider lived experiences, cultural influences, as well as other intersecting factors into my understanding of your worldview. I enjoy celebrating client’s goals, sitting with at times difficult feelings, and embarking on this journey together.

While every person’s needs are different and require an individual approach, I tend to use techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, CBT & DBT.
I received my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois after completing my clinical internship here at Keri Powell Therapy. I strive to create a warm, open environment where clients can take the time to explore their feelings and circumstances in a way that is comfortable for them. I love working with clients to figure out the root causes of their problems and work together to find ways to resolve them. I enjoy working with teens and adults and am comfortable working with most mental health concerns.

The techniques I use in therapy are a mix of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy, and mindfulness to name a few.
Because we cannot clearly see our mental health it is easy to overlook. Coming to the conclusion to seek counseling can be scary, but it is also a very important decision. The only person who can make meaningful long-lasting changes in your life is you and seeking guidance to make those changes is a big first step. Some changes happen quickly while others may take a while, but with all change it can be beneficial to have someone on the outside for support. Mental health looks different for everyone and therefore should be treated uniquely for each individual.

My therapy approach depends on your needs, but I primarily work prioritizing empathy and empowerment while teaching tangible DBT skills to improve communication/relationships, manage emotions and be more mindful.
Let’s be honest - life can get pretty messy. It’s full of things like change (ugh!), other humans and events out of our control. Maybe you're having a hard time, and you don't even know "why". Maybe your relationships are stressful. Maybe society’s “-isms” (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.) are affecting your well-being. In therapy you get to decide what is important! I get the honor of walking with you as we figure out how to help you cope, manage, grow or heal. As a queer person, I am especially passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ folx. I provide a safe & affirming space to explore all facets of yourself/your life.

I utilize a range of therapeutic techniques, including trauma-informed therapy, person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy ( DBT).
Mental health challenges can significantly impact daily functioning, even long after the precipitating events have occurred. In some cases, there may be no clear cause, yet the impact is still profound. Regardless of the situation, everyone deserves support. In my previous work, I worked with diverse populations and complex trauma. I supported individuals and families from all walks of life, many of whom were dealing with overlapping traumas, including domestic violence, mental health struggles, homelessness, childhood trauma, and identity-based discrimination. In all cases, I was inspired by every person's innate strength.

I hold a clinical master’s degree in social work from The University of Chicago, where I received extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT)—therapies that foster a sense of wellness and vitality.
Many of us seek supportive relationships and a meaningful life, yet internal distress can stop us from pursuing the life we want. We can become entangled in unhelpful patterns, making it difficult to move forward with what is important to us. I work with individuals and couples grappling with distress related to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma. I help them improve their relationships and build a meaningful life. I also support those who feel overwhelmed and stuck, assisting them in overcoming prolonged cycles of distress.

I know that taking the step to begin therapy can be really hard, because... feelings. We have them, whether we want to or not. Understanding our thoughts and behaviors can also be hard. And making changes to improve our lives may be the hardest of all. My job is to acknowledge that this is hard, and to validate your feelings, whatever they are. I will sit in those feelings with you. I will also get to know you and your story, the people and things that are important to you, and help you set goals around what you want to focus on (such as learning skills, moving through difficult experiences, or utilizing therapeutic techniques).

I am devoted to helping people not only address their physical and mental health, but also to identify how stigma impacts the healing process. I began in 2014, working with both adolescents experiencing Substance Use Disorder and their families. Since that time, I have developed skills working with people experiencing a wider range of challenges including: depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, and trauma. My intention in every session is to provide a safe space for people of any race, gender, sexual orientation or family structure (however that may look for you). Asking for help is hard and I can only hope to honor that.
