I will provide a safe and welcoming environment to introduce and implement EMDR, Trauma Focused Cognitive behavioral therapy TF-CBT, or CBT.
In my 10 years of helping individuals, families, and communities I have realized we all have needs/wants and those needs/wants matter. We all come to therapy with unique experiences, and you are the expert of your experience. Sometimes things can become too difficult to handle on our own and we need some extra help figuring out the best way to move forward.

I have experience working with Spiritual Trauma survivors, Complex trauma, First Responders, Veterans, LGBTQIA2S+ community, and la Comunidad Latina.
Invictus. Meaning undefeated, unbreachable, invincible. We go through this incredibly tough life's journey and we fight for our survival. When we reach a point where we no longer have to physically fight, our minds and bodies don't always recognize the fight has ended and we are now fighting shadows that once were. I know trauma. I lived trauma. I survived trauma. I am here to tell you that we are conquerors, my friend. You are undefeated and you're proving it by being right here, right now. My hope is to empower you and work together with you to assist in healing trauma and mastering life challenges.

I utilize EMDR to help process trauma and work through symptoms associated with PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
Asking for help can feel very intimidating especially when it comes to your mental health. My clinical focus centers around helping individuals heal and process what they are going through and what they have been through. Counseling is a safe, nonjudgemental space to start your mental health healing process.

I have over ten years of experience helping clients of all ages learn about and decrease symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma and many other issues.
I understand that the choice of a therapist is an important one. The trust that is built between the client and the therapist is important in determining how helpful therapy can be. I work hard to create a supportive therapeutic environment. I believe in providing a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere and encourage people to talk at a pace that is comfortable for them. I believe that an individual has the ability to learn to do things differently and feel better. I use techniques associated with the widely recognized cognitive behavioral theory as well as those from family system's theory.

In my nearly 10 years of clinical experience, I have been able to provide individuals and couples with support in understanding their experiences, emotions, and relationships. Every person who walks through my door deserves a compassionate, welcoming space to build trust. In that space, we can discover wants, needs, and values. To create and build safety within the discomfort of exploring who you are, without judgement, from yourself or anyone else. In doing so, you can better understand the person you want to become, or to better understand the true depth of what you have to offer just as you are now.

Worried about your child or teen? Grieving the loss of a loved one? Dealing with infertility? I have 20 years experience in working with families and women struggling in these areas. Parenting doesn't come with a roadmap. It's so easy to feel overwhelmed with all the conflicting advice we get. I help families navigate their way through life's twists and turns using realistic, proven and common-sense solutions (and a little humor and fun).

Are you feeling like something is missing in your life? Do you wish you could have your life back the way it used to be? Or maybe it has never been what you would like it to be. It could be related to relationships, work, family, or even nothing that you can identify at all. Ignoring the problem is not the answer even though it seems easier. You may want a "quick fix" but there is no replacement for really working through the issues in our lives and getting to a better place. Basically...how you got where you are and where to go from here. It is a big step. That's the kind of "fix" that lasts a lifetime.

I work collaboratively with you, blending mind, body and energetic approaches (energy psychology/ tapping) with trauma therapy, MBCT, and IFS, each when appropriate, to work through what troubles you.
Reaching out for help can be hard. I've worked with clients who have had an experience that has brought them to therapy, those who feel 'off' and 'stuck' but don't know why, and those who have tried therapy but didn't get what they needed out of it. In our sessions, I meet you where you are, no matter what brings you in, and go from there, addressing symptoms, root causes, and helping you move toward healing. My clients say they leave sessions feeling less anxiety and tension, and more ease, openness and hope. You will walk out of sessions knowing yourself in new ways with tools to help yourself along your path.

My specialty is dealing with trauma reaction, be it a "big T" trauma incident, or a lot of "little t" experiences.
Stuff happens that affects our thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I believe your mind works fine. But a facet of your mind is causing you to respond or feel in ways that make life more difficult than it should be. This ongoing emotional distress or pain is not helping you be more effective in your life. I will help you address that 'facet of mind' to unplug the emotional pain and irrational thinking, so that your thoughts and energy are moving you towards what is valuable in your life.

My passion involves working with individuals struggling with addiction, co-occurring disorders, trauma, and a variety of other issues. Building a strong rapport and meeting my clients where they are in their mental health journey is one of the foundations of my practice and I believe harm reduction can be a goal for many struggling with a diagnosis. Together, we will work on a treatment plan that is tailored to your issues, needs and goals. Being a Gold Star Daughter inspired me to work in veteran, and Gold Star family communities for 25 years. Teaching Pre K for 9 years was incredibly rewarding.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
