My approach to therapy is grounded in a deep, interdisciplinary understanding of the human experience. In my work with clients, we address underlying issues by using multiple areas and functions of the brain and nervous system. Rather than solely relying on thinking or talking your way out of anxiety, depression or trauma - our collaboration focuses on creating an environment to help rewire the brain and support real, lasting change.

I work with children, teens, and adults with life issues such as trauma, anxiety, anger, self-harm, and relationship issues. I understand the complexity of intersecting identities that many of us have such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and ability status, and how these identities effect our life experiences and the life experiences of our children and teens. With a focus on fostering resilience and emotional well-being, I am committed to tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each client, regardless of age.

I love getting to know a person and their unique story and coming alongside in their journey towards holistic wellness. In the counseling room I work best with a warm person-centered style, a strengths-based approach, creativity, and trauma-informed. I use not just talk therapy, but also art therapy and somatic approaches. If this sounds like something that you'd be interested in, I may be a good fit for you!

Do you have a child that struggles at school academically or behaviorally? I thrive in working with school-aged children (and their families) and assisting them in living their best life. I have spent my life working with youth in various contexts and have a "way" in working with youth that invites their true inner self to explode with greatness! I also work with adults as well and focus on transitional concerns, trauma, relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, and other adult life challenges!

I've worked with children and adults of all ages throughout my career and have a passion for working with individuals with ADHD, autism, anxiety, trauma, and those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Navigating through a neurotypical world can be exhausting, confusing, and frustrating, especially for neurodiverse individuals. If you’re here reading this, you’re most likely hoping to connect with a therapist who “gets it.” As a neurodivergent therapist, I get it. In my practice, I am dedicated to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where my clients can explore their thoughts and feelings. By using a person-centered approach to therapy, I help my clients connect with their inner selves and find the strength and courage to overcome their challenges.

On the outside you have it all together, but deep down you carry a secret experience that knocks the wind out of you every time you remember it. The sexual trauma you experienced has robbed you of joy, freedom, and vitality. You have people in your life who you care about, but the relationships feel distant and detached. You can’t remember the last time you had a good night’s sleep because the memories seem to loom continuously. You remember some of the goals you used to have, but fear, anxiety, and insecurity stop you from pursuing them. It’s time to get your life back, and I want to help you get there.

In addition to working with adults with trauma, I specialize in working with adults experiencing life transition or who are simply seeking personal growth.
With over 25 years of experience as a LCPC, my commitment to walking alongside people through their healing process with the utmost care and respect has only deepened. Primarily working with adults who are healing from trauma, I understand the overwhelm and exhaustion that often comes with being stuck in the unsupportive, negative response loop of trauma. I leverage a number of highly effective therapeutic modalities to help people live in the now instead of the past.

Most of us humans have experienced trauma or simply too much stress. Thoughts, body sensations, and images/memories/dreams can cause more emotional and physical pain--and vice versa. To get rid of these unwanted things completely may be expected goals; but to diminish and manage them with less pain or tension is more realistic. To be understood by others, to feel more safe, to feel supported, to receive usable feedback and new ideas--these are goals I will surely help any client experience. Somatic Experiencing facilitates clients in moving forward, at their own pace, building more resilience self-acceptance and confidence.

I specialize in helping adults who want to explore the impact of trauma and/or improve their relationships with themselves. My goal is to help develop a deeper understanding of the root causes of client issues in addition to addressing current symptoms. I work collaboratively with clients to explore and understand their experiences, to utilize their innate strengths, and to build relationships with themselves that are rooted in self-compassion. I believe strongly that the quality and fit of the therapy relationship is what allows for the greatest positive change for clients, especially when they have experienced relational trauma.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
