I have over 17 years experience working with survivors of trauma and all the common challenges they face - anxiety, depression, grief; difficulties with - relationships, trust, focusing, feeling connected to self and others, self-confidence, assertiveness.
Many people avoid seeking help for fear that they or their children will be labeled. My motto is: "Peel off the labels and see the person underneath." I believe you are a person with unique needs, strengths, and challenges, that there are complex reasons you are living the life you are living today - AND, you can improve. Emotional pain and problems are just as natural and normal as physical pain and problems. When we let go of the labels we have about ourselves, our problems, or therapy in general, we can begin healing the pain and resolving the problems.

Many of my clients come to me with the desire to change or rid themselves of challenging symptoms or behaviors. Most of the time, these symptoms and behaviors started out as solutions, born out of necessity to survive an unsafe environment. Whether you're experiencing relationship issues, struggling to set boundaries with family and friends, or feeling stuck in a cycle of depression and anxiety, we will work together to better understand and show compassion to the parts of you that feel hardest to embrace.

I love working with clients who “just need a place to vent” but also individuals who experience a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress management, substance use and grief.
Living as your authentic self is sometimes a struggle with who you expect to be and who others expect you to be. Changing habits can be very difficult but I want you to know that you have the ability to start over and be the best version of yourself. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist, I use a holistic approach to support clients to meet their behavioral health goals.

I focus on and have experience treating trauma related symptoms and disorders, anxiety, depression, attachment disruptions, relational issues, family conflict, survivors of childhood abuse, survivors of sexual assault, as well as loss and grief.
We often start the healing process feeling lost, unsure if we’ll ever feel better. Or maybe when life has knocked us down and we don’t know which way to go next, maybe it feels too hard to keep going. If any of these resonate with you, I’m glad you’re here. As a therapist, I work as a guide for my clients. I do my best to help you get in touch with that deep knowledge of what you need to do to heal by providing space to explore and dig deeper. I offer myself as a witness to your story, your life, your experiences, and as a mirror to your inherent worth.

My areas of focus include working with anxiety, life transitions, grief/loss, relationship/dating challenges, relational trauma, issues with self-worth, and codependency.
I work alongside clients to help them develop a more balanced, integrated, and grounded sense of self. I believe that through therapy, people can gain more in-depth awareness of their emotional experience, their thoughts and behaviors, and how one’s past may inform one’s present. This awareness can help create space for self-acceptance and self-compassion, and cultivate personal growth and desired change. I find that my approach to therapy tends to be a good fit for people who are looking to gain insight and understanding about themselves, not just looking for skills to manage symptoms or "quick fixes."

I believe that therapy is an opportunity for growth and healing. I offer a safe, responsive environment that builds on the coping methods, survival strategies, and the inner wisdom that you have already implemented in your life. My practice centers anti-oppressive practices, acknowledging that our intersecting identities impact the way we view ourselves, others, and the world. I place an emphasis on assisting people in advocating for themselves, which sometimes comes in the shape of creating healthier boundaries or learning how to better communicate your needs. We all deserve to move through life being loved for who we are.

I believe that just because we can navigate life’s challenges alone, doesn’t mean we should have to. It takes strength and courage to seek support, and in my style of genuine and empathic connection, I actively engage individuals in an insight-oriented therapeutic experience. Together we will build tools to navigate daily challenges, as well as draw connections to past experiences and how they impact your present. My goal is to help you access and trust your internal compass, strengthen resiliency, and find growth and fulfillment.

I believe that long- lasting, meaningful growth thrives in self-compassion, honoring shame, and creating purpose. Inherited and experienced trauma can remain in the body and inform our choices, so one of my goals is to offer a guiding hand in disentangling negative core beliefs from the body and sense of self. Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
