I have a warm and open relational style that communicates value and worth to my clients. My goal is to elicit your own strengths to make the change that you want. Too much guidance takes away your own autonomy, and too little keeps you confused, but finding the balance is one of the keys to good therapy. My clients appreciate my client centered and accepting style and most of my referrals come from previous client's recommendations. I have extensive experience with addiction, codependence, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, OCD, perfectionism, and ADHD.

An awakening is emerging as you seek professional counseling. By noticing the personal imbalance within you or with someone you care about, you are paying attention to your deeper intuition. Perhaps the incongruities have to do with depression; anxiety; relationship dissonances; family of origin woundedness; separation and grief; parenting challenges; trauma-related experiences; or wonderment about your current being.

Do you feel stuck, trapped, dissatisfied? Has motivation become a problem? Are you plagued by worries? You are not alone. We all encounter periods when we feel "boxed in" by life. I believe people seek therapy when they come to a point where they have tried everything they can think of and nothing has worked to their satisfaction. This is not a sign of illness, disorder, or weakness. On the contrary, it is often at this point that a person is on the verge of a new way of seeing themselves, their problems, their life.

I have training in grief counseling for children and adults, as well as trauma-informed modalities for children and adults, including: EMDR, TF-CBT, DBT, sand tray therapy, and trauma-informed play therapy.
This has been such a hard season for many individuals and families navigating challenging issues with grief and loss. Most of my work has been providing support to children, adolescents, and adults during stressful experiences and transitions. My job allows me the privilege to witness the resilience and strength of individuals as they move through unexpected challenges. I believe it is important for all people to have a safe, non-judgmental, authentic space to feel validated and to help bring balance and healing to their life. I also work with therapists and medical providers who experience trauma and loss at work.

Life is challenging and you may have worries, sadness, grief, a feeling of frustration in your work or a lack of connection to others. Therapy may seem daunting but it doesn't have to be. It is that very special place where you look at yourself with courage, compassion, and curiosity, without judgment or blame. It is the place to grow, change, to be seen and not alone. You already have the strengths and gifts to draw on, to deal with any challenge or concern, you just need to take the time and effort to do this for yourself.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
