My philosophy toward therapy is first and foremost to honor the trust that you’ve placed in my position as guide. As we travel through our adulthood there are many twists and turns, losses, and life changes that we experience. We are surprised by sudden loss of enthusiasm, friends or loved ones departing, and other shifts. I specialize in working with those experiencing anxiety, depression, and burnout related to these changes. I approach each session from a humanistic and person-centered informed approach. As a guide, I will help you evolve toward a more empowered path to your life, while focusing on short- and long-term goals.

Our work together may mean we help you learn to manage symptoms of trauma or grieve a loss.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed with life’s challenges or simply want to work on achieving better balance in your life, we can help guide you. Perhaps you’ve been trying to manage depression, anxiety, substance abuse issues, trauma effects on your own, and feel that it is all a bit too much. At times, we can be our own worst critics, and struggle to manage our self-doubt. We realize that deciding to seek out a therapist can be a difficult task, and you want someone who will be there for you, and help you get to where you want to be in your life without judgment.

My education and training have certainly prepared me to handle many situations, but I excel at what I do because I have something to offer to my clients - real-world, relatable, personal experience.

When we are in the eye of the storm; it's difficult to sort through what is happening around us, and how it affects us on the inside. Simply starting therapy is often the hardest part. What if the therapist isn't a good fit? Am I ready to open up? Does getting help mean I am weak? But-what if it all worked out? We provide warm, engaging counseling for kids, teens and adults. We do laughter, we do healing.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
